Kids Injured In Bridgeport School Bus Accident

Just before 3:30pm Monday afternoon a school bus traveling down Chopsey Hill Road near the intersection of Trumbull Avenue when a car reportedly swerved into the buses lane of travel. The bus swerved to miss the car but hit a utility pole. About 6-10 children were injured when they hit their heads either on the bus seat in front of them or on the windows. The children were checked as a precaution. No one was seriously injured. The uninjured children were transferred on to another bus and continued home.

6yr Old Charge with Sexual Assualt Playing Tag

San Francisco CA--HERCULES (CBS 5) – An East Bay dad claims a game of tag on the playground resulted in his 6-year-old son being accused of sexual assault – a decision he said was an overreaction by school officials. The parent, who asked only to be identified as Oswin, said his son was accused of brushing his best friend’s leg or groin while the two were playing on the playground at Lupine Hills Elementary in Hercules two months ago. Oswin said his child was kept in the principal’s office for two hours until he confessed. He was suspended, and a sexual battery charge was placed on his permanent school record. Fire on Wade Street Bridgeport

Shortly after 11:15pm Saturday night firefighters were called to 247 Wade Street for a structure fire.  Firefighters found the back of the structure on fire.  A strong breeze was concern but their quick work prevented the fire from spreading further.  Homeowner Doreen Wallace Davis was at work when the blaze broke out.   she lives elsewhere.  The house was vacant at the time but a primary search was conducted which turned out negative.  Acting Assistant Fire Chief James Cook told us upon arrival the house was heavily involved in fire from the rear, the first two engine companies  got an attack line in and did an initial search.    No firefighters were injured fighting the fire.

Farifield Police Loses One Of Their Finest

From the  Chief of Police Gary MacNamara's page on Fairfield Police's website: Written by Gary MacNamara Providing public safety service, whether POLICE, FIRE, or EMS, requires trained telecommunicators often operating in the background, to answer emergency calls, and dispatch resources.  Once dispatched, the resources require constant communication back to headquarters to effectively handle most incidents. This past week, the Town of Fairfield lost one of those individuals who for over twenty years dedicated his work to providing those emergency services .  Telecommunicator Joe Thomas passed away last week.  For over twenty years he was there for the community and our emergency service personnel to answer all our calls for help. Stratford Loses A Hero

[caption id="attachment_6255" align="alignleft" width="141" caption="Lieutenant Tom McCabe"][/caption] Lieutenant Tom McCabe was a 24 year decorated veteran of the Stratford Fire Department, served as Treasurer for the Firefighters Benevolent Association, and was also the department historian. Lt McCabe was 54 years old and leaves behind a wife and three children. The loss of Lt McCabe will surely have a lasting impact on the members of the Stratford Fire Department and his local community. RIP Lt McCabe. BRIDGEPORT -- A man was hospitalized Thursday night after becoming the victim of a shooting in the city's Hollow section. Hit in the torso, the man staggered a block through the rain from Olive Street near Rosedale Street to Bridgeport Variety and Plus, a Park Avenue store that sells food, drinks and tobacco. [SlideDeck id='494' width='100%' height='400px'] ‎ 9:33--#Fairfield #Bridgeport--A car jacking just occurred at Super Stop and Shop at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff. Police located the vehicle and brief pursuit took place entering into Bridgeport. Bridgeport Police entered the pursuit which quickly ended with Fairfield making the arrest on State Street and Iranistan Avenue. 3:50am--#Bridgeport--Man in car on Terrace Circle which is off Trumbull Avenue was struck from behind. He apparently got out of his vehicle when he was shot in the thigh by an unknown shooter. He was then transported to St. Vincent's Hospital by a private vehicle.
