Just before 8:30 fire broke out in the kitchen are of 112 Chalmers Avenue (off Park Avenue) Everyone safely made it out of the home but we are told a mother dog and four of her puppies perished in the fire. One puppy did make it out safely. Firefighters quickly knocked the fire out and spend most of their time checking to make sure the fire was out and did not extend behind walls and eves of the structure. No firefighters were injured. The fire marshal was called to investigate the fire.
