#Bridgeport, CT – Sept 19, 2014 – Detectives are attempting to identify a suspect who tried to hold up a business in the 4200 block of Main Street.
Detectives Art Calvao and Kenneth McKenna responded to an attempted robbery that happened shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday at the Uptown News, at 4200 Main St.
Detectives secured video footage from the location and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the would-be robber.
The hooded suspect entered the store with a plastic grocery bag and a weapon. It is unclear if the weapon was an actual handgun or a facsimile. He ordered the employee to fill the plastic bag with money. When the employee called out for the owner of the business, the robber left the business without any money.
Detectives are investigating if there is a connection to a second incident that happened at 8:30 p.m. at Another Level Hair Salon, at 2436 Main St.
In that incident, a hooded gunman entered the business with a plastic grocery bag and took money from the owner and a purse from a customer.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
