Barbara Butler, Director of the Westport Department of Human Services, along with the Westport Positive Youth Development Initiative, Weston Youth Services, and Wilton Youth Council, announced today the speaking engagement of Linda Lantieri, M.A. Ms. Lantieri, will present her workshops as follows:

Monday, Oct. 5 7 PM – 8:30 PM @ Weston Middle School Library (135 School Road, Weston)

Tuesday, Oct. 6 10:30 AM – 12 noon @ Westport Town Hall Auditorium (110 Myrtle Ave,Westport)

Both events are free and open to parents in the community. Ms. Lantieri’s presentation reflects on: What would parenting look like if you experienced less stress and anxiety, had more control over your emotions, and had the space and capacity for reflection before taking action? This talk will help parents learn practical skills in:

~ Listening mindfully ~ Handling stress and difficult emotions

~ Resolving conflict effectively ~ Balancing life’s demands and challenges

~ Enriching their parenting experience

Ms. Lantieri is a Fulbright Scholar, keynote speaker, and internationally known expert in social and emotional learning, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention. A former teacher and administrator, Ms. Lantieri has been in the field of  education for over forty years. Currently she serves as Director of The Inner Resilience Program, which is an initiative that equips school personnel with the skills and strategies to strengthen their inner resiliency in order to model these skills for young people in their care. Ms. Lantieri is one of the co-founders of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). She is also the author of Building Emotional Intelligence: Techniques to Cultivate Inner Strength in Children.
