#Westport Connecticut– Today the Region 1 Emergency Planning Team conducted their Preparedness and Response Field Day at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.  Since 2007 the fourteen (14) municipalities, two (2) regional planning organizations, 20+ Emergency Support Functions, and DEMHS Regional Office that make up Region 1, have worked collaboratively to increase individual and collective capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from all-hazards emergencies. This has included the acquisition of a significant amount of equipment, development of plans, delivery of multi-disciplined training, and participation in Regional-based exercises. All of this collaborative effort has been driven by the need to respond efficiently to incidents of all sizes and complexities, and have been supported through DHS funding administered by the State.
