#Bridgeport CT– Thursday, 6/29–Mercedes Bruno, 26, of 163 Catherine St., Bridgeport, allegedly stole a sprinter delivery van from Junco’s Meat Market on Harral Avenue around 6:30am Thursday morning.  She lead police on pursuit on I-95 ending in North Haven after hitting state police cars as well as several Bridgeport Police cars.  The pursuit continued onto I-91 northbound when she struck another state police car near exit 12 which caused her to lose control of the van and she crashed into a light pole knocking it over and ending the pursuit.  She was lead away in handcuffs with no further incident.

 

Bruno was charged with two counts of assault on public safety personnel, two counts of criminal attempt to commit assault on public safety personnel, second-degree larceny, second-degree criminal trove, reckless endangerment, operating while under the influence, reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit and three counts of evading responsibility.

 

She was unable to post the $100,000 cash/surety bond and will appear in court on June 30th.
