4:36pm–#Bridgeport CT– There was a lot of heroism at a fire at 235 Remington Street. EMS from Amercian Medical Response (AMR) was first on the scene reporting a heavy fire. According to radio reports, they helped get the occupants from the building including an elderly resident with asthma out safely. Firefighters quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire. Firefighters did two searches of the home and confirmed human made it out of the building. Firefighters rescued a dog and a cat that were overwhelmed by smoke, they performed CPR and saved both of them. They also rescued a family of turtles and a reptile that looked like a lizard or gecko (sorry, my reptile identification is not that great).

The fire was reported to have started on the back deck and extended into the house. The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause of the fire. Red Cross officials helped provide assistance and temporary housing to the family. Way to go everyone!
