Stratford News: Shooting UPDATE:

The Stratford Police Department is investigating a drive by shooting that occurred on Woodend Road on 08-07-2018 at approximately 7pm. One victim was shot as a result of a drive by and the suspects fled the scene in what appears to be a silver car, possibly a HONDA. The car in question has a distinctive black front bumper. The shooter and vehicle fled south on Woodend Road after the incident.   The lone shooting victim is a 16 year old male who was playing basketball on the courts. He has been treated at Bridgeport Hospital and is in good condition. Investigators are following up on several leads. New Ladder Truck For Fairfield Fire

Fairfield Fire Department is unveiling a new fire truck  at Station 2 on Jennings Road. The new truck, a 2017 Spartan/Marion, to be exact, comes with the "latest and greatest" features, says Lieutenant Kevin Polcer. The new Engine 2 contains numerous safety features, such as "full frontal airbags...and side protection", which comes with most modern vehicles. The new engine also has "anti-lock breaks on all four wheels". The new engine comes equipped with all LED lighting, a 1,500-gallon water tank, and a 75-gallon foam tank in order to make "foam on the fly".  The Marion is also eco-friendly, taking diesel exhaust fluid, or D.E.F., so "the emissions from this truck are a lot less than a truck 10 years ago".…

Averting Cuts To Human Service Programs State Wide

#Bridgeport CT--Today  State Senator Tony Hwang, The CT Community Nonprofit Alliance (The Alliance) & The Kennedy Center and held a press conference in the Gallery of the Maggie Daly Arts Cooperative (MDAC), 1042 Broad Street, Bridgeport, to talk about how the state can avert devastating cuts to human service programs and save $1.3 billion over the next five years. The majority of Connecticut’s human service programs are provided by nonprofit, community-based agencies like the Kennedy Center, that contract with the state. New Fisher House In West Haven Veterans Hospital

A new Fisher House in West Haven is being built to assist those who have a family member in the VA hospital. Ground was broken on this 16 suite house on April 11, and will provide free housing for an estimated 500 families a year. The house will be located on the VA campus on Campbell Avenue.
