Norwalk Murder Arrest

On December 28, 2023, Norwalk Police Special Services Division was contacted by Waterbury Police Detectives regarding a murder investigation. Waterbury Police held an active arrest warrant for Barry Mason. Special Services officers developed information that Mason could be in the greater Norwalk area and set up surveillance at a location Mason was known to frequent. At approximately 5:30 PM, Mason was observed walking on Lexington Avenue. Special Services officers took Mason into custody without incident. Mason was transported to Norwalk Police Headquarters and then turned over to the Waterbury Police Department. Norwalk News: Evading Accident Arrest

At 5:00 AM on November 7, 2023, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received reports of a motor vehicle accident involving an individual evading responsibility at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Madison Street. Norwalk Police Officers promptly responded, locating a person who had been struck by the fleeing vehicle. The injured individual was urgently transported to Norwalk Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Taking charge of the investigation, the Norwalk Police Detective Bureau collaborated closely with the Crime Scene Unit and Crash Reconstruction Investigators. Through a comprehensive effort that included interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and collecting evidence from the scene, the investigators successfully identified and located the evading vehicle. Norwalk Sexual Offender Arrest

On December 14, 2023, Maurice Thomas-Riley, a 28-year-old resident of 18 Prospect Street Apartment C11, was arrested by warrant. He faces eleven charges of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. The arrest followed an investigation initiated by the Connecticut State Police Sex Offender Registry Unit, which informed the Norwalk Police Department of eleven separate violations occurring over a 2.5-year period. Thomas-Riley's court appearance is scheduled for December 29, 2023, with a set bond of $75,000.

The Detective Bureau is looking to identify the pictured individuals in connectionto burglaries of several motor vehicles in Norwalk on November 8, 2023. The twosuspects burglarized several vehicles parked on Muller Avenue and utilized theidentifications of the owners of the vehicles to cash over $30,000.00 in fraudulentchecks. Norwalk News: Stabbing Incident

At 4:24 PM on December 1, 2023, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a report of an individual sustaining a leg injury at 385 Connecticut Avenue's parking lot. Patrol division officers promptly arrived to support Norwalk Emergency Service personnel in providing medical assistance to the victim. A preliminary investigation by patrol officers uncovered that the victim, a domestic violence survivor, had been stabbed in the left thigh while seated in a vehicle with the suspect. The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital via ambulance for treatment, while officers initiated a search for the suspect. Norwalk News: Stolen Vehicles

Since January 1, 2023, there have been eighty-seven motor vehicles stolen from different residents within the City of Norwalk. Of those eighty-seven, fifty-five vehicles had the keys left in the car. Norwalk Police Officers continue to work diligently to arrest suspects in these cases and locate the vehicles. We implore the Norwalk community to ALWAYS lock all car doors and remove all valuables from within. NEVER leave keys or fobs anywhere in the vehicle, no matter how well you think they are hidden, or even if you believe the vehicle is blocked in.
