Westport, CT - Director of Human Services Elaine Daignault announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s Career Coachat Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, October 11, the Coach will offer a class in beginner’s class in Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities. The Westport Police Department is proud to be a member of the Pink Patch Project for 2018. Our newly designed patches are part of an innovative campaign that is comprised of over 2,675 other public safety agencies nationwide, designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.   For the month of October, officers will be wearing uniform shirts with our pink patch to help spread awareness. Westport, CT - Planning & Zoning Director Mary Young announced today that the Planning & Zoning Commission will review a Text Amendment on Oct. 4, 2018 at 7:00 PM in the Westport Town Hall Auditorium. Text Amendment #753, prepared by the Planning and Zoning Commission’s Process Efficiency Subcommittee, proposes to modify the Change of Use definition found in the Westport Zoning Regulations. Westport News: Threatening

#Westport CT--On 08/27/2018, the victim reported he was being harassed by John Colavito over a business dispute involving an annuity. Colavito and the victim had a meeting in July regarding the issue and since then, the victim reported to have received multiple emails and text messages from him. Colavito was found to have emailed the victim 54 times between 7/18/18 and 8/21/2018; 21 of which were sent in one day. Some of the emails were found to be threatening in nature. The investigating officer submitted an arrest warrant application for Colavito, which was later approved. On 09/20/2018, Colavito turned himself in at police headquarters on the active arrest warrant. He was charged with 53a-62 Threatening and 53a-183 Harassment 2 nd…

Westport News: Two Westport Recruits Graduate Police Academy

#Westport CT--On September 20, 2018, Westport Officers Scott Aliberti and Tyler Stevens graduated from the 361 st session of the Police Officer Standards and Training Council (POSTC) Police Academy. The graduation ceremony celebrating the completion of the 24 week program was held at Central Connecticut State University. Officers Aliberti and Stevens, along with their 45 classmates, resided at the POSTC Academy in Meriden since April. For 24 weeks, they learned the laws of Connecticut, became certified Emergency Medical Responders and gained skills needed to be a law enforcement officer. Officers Aliberti and Stevens now return to the Westport Police Department to begin their field training program.

Westport Volunteer Emergency Medical Service(WVEMS) will be offering two open houses for the public during the month of September.The local non-profit, founded in 1979, is excited to welcome the public into their headquarterson Saturday, September 15th from 3:00PM - 6:00PM or on Sunday, September 23rd from 3:00PM - 6:00PM. Their headquarters is located at 50 Jesup Road, Westport (also Westport Police Headquarters). Attendees can access the Open House from the ambulance bays, located behind the building. The open houses will allow community members and families to "drop-in" and learn about the WVEMS tradition of saving lives, which has been funded by donations for nearly 40 years. #Westport CT-- Recently the Westport Fire Department has received inquiries from several residents who were solicited by telephone for donations to the Westport Volunteer Fire Department. The caller identified themselves as representing the Fire Department Foundation. To our knowledge no such organization exists. The Westport Volunteer Fire Department & the Westport Uniformed Firefighters Charitable Foundation are two fundraising organizations within the Westport Fire Department. We are both registered with the IRS as nonprofit corporations and we do not contract with any third party to solicit donations by telephone. We only seek support from the members of the Westport community through an annual town-wide mailing, never through telephone solicitation. Westport, CT - The Westport Youth Commission and Westport Police Department will host a friendly game of Capture-the-Flag for Westport Middle School students on Sunday, September 16 at 3:30 pm on Jesup Green.
