Stratford Connecticut–Today, Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport, Stratford) and Representative Joseph Gresko (D-Stratford) joined Stratford Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour to announce a $25,000 state grant for the Stratford Police Activities League (P.A.L.).

“Our communities are safer when we work together,” said Senator Ed Gomes (D-Bridgeport, Stratford). “This grant for the Stratford P.A.L. will help fund more activities and opportunities for Stratford police officers to build relationships and trust with the youth in our community. Our kids are safer when they are building character and leadership skills in programs like the Police Explorer Program and various athletic leagues.”

“Securing the funding for PAL fulfills the commitment that police officials have made to Stratford. The PAL program has really been rejuvenated, and this funding goes a long way. I also want to thank Senator Gomes for going to bat for PAL. It’s great when everyone comes together to represent Stratford and secures important funding for the town,” Rep. Joe Gresko (D-Stratford) said.

The Stratford P.A.L. is an organization of law enforcement officers and civilians who work together towards the positive development of our youth. Every dollar raised is used directly for the benefit of the many programs sponsored by the PAL.

The PAL helps support the young people who are currently involved in the following programs:
PAL Boxing and Martial Arts
Police Explorer Program
PAL Rifle League
Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading
Baseball: Stratford Little League, American Legion, Cal Ripken,
Babe Ruth and Stratford Titans
Girls Softball
Stratford United Soccer

Westport News: Man Arrested Twice For Larceny

A man was arrested twice for larceny, first incident at the Westport Tennis Club and then again at the Saugatuck Rowing Club.  The Westport Police Press release synopsis is below:

 

On 05/26/16, Westport Detectives responded to Norwalk Court to serve an arrest warrant on Ronald Garafalo for a larceny he committed in October of 2015. On 10/05/15, Westport Officers responded to the Westport Tennis Club, 1696 Post Road East, on a report of a stolen wallet. Garafalo was observed throwing a wallet in the parking lot of the Tennis Club. A witness picked up the wallet and returned in to the victim, who left the wallet in her duffle bag at the receptionist counter at the Tennis Club. The victim reported missing $200.00 cash from her wallet. After discarding the wallet, Garafalo went to the nearby Goodwill store where he was captured on video surveillance. With the help of Greenwich PD, Garafalo was  positively identified as the suspect in this case as he has committed similar crimes in their town. Garafalo was served with the arrest warrant while he was in court for another charge. He was arraigned on the same day.

 

On 05/26/16, Westport Detectives responded to Norwalk Court to serve an arrest warrant on Ronald Garafalo for a larceny he committed in April of 2016. On 04/18/16, Garafalo stole $240.00 out of a hand bag that was hanging in the Regatta room at the Saugatuck Rowing Club. The victim noticed that her bag was moved, then noticed her money missing. Garafalo was captured on video surveillance taking the money out of the victim’s bag. Garafalo was positively identified by Westport Officers as he has committed similar crimes in town. Garafalo was served with the arrest warrant while he was in court for another charge. He was arraigned on the same day.
