Will ABC Cancel ‘General Hospital’ for Katie Couric?

Just a few weeks after ABC announced that it is canceling “All My Children” and “One Life To Live“, TMZ is reporting that it has made a 20 million dollar deal for Katie Couric. The network is allegedly poised to cancel “General Hospital” to make room for Couric’s program. ABC issued a statement saying that it had “”No comment at this time,” which is not exactly a denial. Firefighters from all around the Bridgeport area paused to reflect and remember those that passed away this year. This year’s service was held at Assumption Church in Westport.

1:59pm–#Stratford–Fire Department on scene at Klondike Street for a kitchen fire. Fire department reports light smoke coming from the home. UPDATE–Bridgeport and Milford Fire Department providing mutual aid to cover stations while Stratford FD battles a blaze on Klondike Street. UPDATE– Kitchen fire spreads and leaves 7 in the family homeless, Red Cross is assisting them. The mother of the family sent to the hospital with smoke inhalation, expected to be released soon.

A quick knockdown confined the fire to the kitchen and hallway.   Heat and smoke damage throughout the home.   2 fire fighters suffered minor injuries falling through a porch in the rear.

5:10pm–#Bridgeport–An 11 year old was just shot in the arm at1217 Iranistan Ave. Uncertain what type of gun or who shot him.

On 06/06/11 Jermaine Johnson DOB (02/24/86) was arrested at 12 Carthage St in Fairfield
after a loaded Glock 45 Caliber handgun was found inside his former apartment. Johnson had
threatened to kill his wife, with the same handgun during an argument inside the Carthage St
apartment during the early morning hours of 05/31/11. Johnson was charged with Threatening
2nd Degree 53a-62, Criminal Possession of a Firearm 53a-217c, Reckless Endangerment 1st
53a-63, Negligent Storage of a Firearm 53a-217a, Disorderly Conduct 53a-182, and Tampering
with a Witness 53a-151. He was held on a $500,000 bond and a court date of 6/7/11 was
assigned.

The victim reports that her husband, Jermaine Johnson, just called her and said that he is at
12 Carthage Street and if she wants to get into the house she better come now. She also said
that Johnson threatened her the other night with a gun in the house at Carthage Street, and
threatened her last night with a knife in Bridgeport (Bridgeport P.D. is currently investigating
the knife threat – Domestic Violence Arrest Warrant pending). The victim said that Johnson
locked her out of the house last night and she was unable to get in. It is believed that Jermaine
Johnson was not in the home at that time. She said that Johnson drives a dark blue BMW and
that she believes that a gun in still in the home or on Johnson.

While responding to this call one Fairfield Officer was involved in a non-injury, motor vehicle
accident on Kings Hwy East and New England Avenue.

10:17pm–#Bridgeport–Police on scene at 1450 Main Street with an individual who swallowed 5 batteries and 14 laxatives.

1:37pm—Fairfield–A Carthage Street woman on her way home from work received word that her husband, who pulled a gun on her the other night was home at her home waiting for her and called police. Police instruct the woman to park in the parking lot of the old Hollywood Video. Police block off the Carthage Street and take two people into custody that were inside her home. Unknown if they were armed.

2:09am–Bridgeport–Man down at Maple Street and East Main was assaulted by 5 males who tore off one of his nipples. AMR reports patient and police were not cooperative for a full report.

10:29pm–#Fairfield– Patrol Officer reports to dispatch that the 2 6′ penguins were last seen on Post and Beach Street are NOT drunk and headed home.

11:43pm–Bridgeport–Police are investigating a shooting that just occurred at Nob Hill Circle, police are on scene investigating. UPDATE–Shooting victim has died of his wounds.

9:31pm–#Bridgeport–Bridgeport Fire Department on scene at 58 Beardsley Park Terrace for a structure fire, FD reporting light smoke from the attic area, possible disabled person trapped on the 3rd floor. UPDATE Fire fighters quickly contain the fire to one room in this three family home.


A bicyclist struck a postal truck at the intersection of Courtland Ave. and Fairfield Ave around 1:30pm today. The bicyclist was taken to the hospital as a precaution, his injuries appeared to be minor.

Happenings NOW 6-2-2011

10:30am–Bridgeport–Bridgeport Police, Fire and Marine Rescue responded to a overturned sailboat near St. Mary’s by the Sea. The boater righted the sailboat and sailed to Fairfield Beach where Fairfield Marine checked them out, they were fine.

Fairfield Police are trying to locate 86-year-old Fairfield man, Thomas Matif, who was last seen leaving the Ukrainian Club on the Post Road in Fairfield Wednesday night around 9:30pm. He is driving a four door 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass wand a Connecticut registration plate of 393 PRE. Police said Matif suffers from dementia and may have made a wrong turn on his way home. He was last seen wearing a dark blue or gray plaid shirt, police said. 11:22am–6/2–UPDATE– A Department of Transportation Worker spotted the vehicle and police are following up on the tip. #Farifield–Missing man found. Police say the missing man from Southport, Thomas Matif, 87, who suffers from dementia was found at a fish market in Provincetown, Mass. They say he was looking for the Long Island Ferry and seemed confused. Police also say his car had some damage but are uncertain what he may of hit.
