9:07pm–#Bridgeport CT–Odor of gas indoors at the Goodwill on Ocean Terrace. Firefighters investigating. Firefighters find no readings but did find a couple of pilot lights out.
Breach of peace at the Bow Tie
8:48pm–#Trumbull CT–Police on the way to the Bow Tie Cinemas, security has a 14 year old in custody for “breaching the peace” no details given. UPDATE: 10;10pm–Bridgeport Police were called to assist in breaking up a large fight but Trumbull Police had it broken up before Bridgeport arrived.

Cops relish that they mustered to ketchup deli burgulars
#Bridgeport, CT – Dec. 30, 2013 – Two Bridgeport men faces burglary-related charges after police responded to a reported burglary in progress at an East Main Street business.
Officers Michael Davila, Carlos Pabon, Ean Smith and other officers responded to the Nob Hill Deli & Grocery, on East Main Street, on an anonymous report of a break in this morning at 4:32 a.m. Police set up a perimeter and during a search of the building found burglary tools strewn about the basement. They also found a hole cut in the floor of the first-floor business, which was used to gain access. In the business, police found the cash register drawer on the floor and items thrown about.
Meanwhile, police in the basement located two suspects hiding and took them into custody.
Jeffrey Meijas, 20, and John Rivera, 18, both were charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, second-degree burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, sixth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools.
Among the items recovered in the basement were a handsaw, two hack saws, flashlights, a sledgehammer, pry bar, electric drill, a propane torch and masks.
They were each held on $25,000 bond.
Space heater fire in Derby
11:00am–#Derby CT–Firefighters on the way to 72 Old New Haven Avenue where a homeowner left items near a space heater to dry and now there is a fire in the basement where the heater is.

Road work on I-95 Stratford
12:42am–#Stratford CT #cttraffic–Use EXTREME caution on I-95 southbound near exit 32 due to road work by DOT where an expansion joint has caused a hazard. DOT on scene making repairs.
Gunshots Ring in New Year; Felon Goes to Jail
Here is the police press release on the shots fired arrests we reported as it was happening New Years Eve/Day:
#Bridgeport, CT – Jan. 2, 2014 – Police arrested a convicted felon after hearing a large volley of gunfire four minutes into the New Year.
Officer David Uliano was assigned to the New Years shots fired detail when, at 12:04 a.m., he heard a series of gunshots and saw muzzle flashes from the back yard of a Maple Street home. The shots were still being fired when Uliano and Officer Luis Moura, with their own weapons drawn, ordered the men to drop the weapons. The four suspects ran inside, turned off all the lights and wouldn’t open the door. They also barricaded the doors.
Police found spent shells from a shotgun, assault rifle and two handguns in the back yard.
After a period of time when police attempted to get someone to open the door, the door did open and police found several males on the floor, their arms spread out. They were taken into custody.
A total of 15 people were arrested, including two men who were outside while the shots were fired.
Police recovered a 12-gauge shotgun, U.S. Carbine rifle with a sawed-off stock, ammunition, narcotics and marijuana.
Marcus Mendez, 24, of Maple Street, was charged possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and interfering with police. He was held on $50,000. Heriberto Soto, 25, of Cottage Street, was charged with interfering. His bond was set at $500. They were among the men in the rear yard when the shots were fired.
Thirteen other people at the house party were charged with interfering with police.
Armed robbery in Bridgeport
9:15pm–#Bridgeport CT–A man was robbed at gunpoint by two males in what else but hoodies taking the mans cellphone on Beechwood Avenue. The suspects fled down Wood Avenue.
