Bridgeport News: Restaurant Robbed At Gunpoint

11:11pm–#Bridgeport CT–The Tai Jiang Restaurant at 610 Boston Avenue was just robbed at gunpoint by two black males between the ages of 18-20, one wore a gray hoodie, the other a blue hoodie.   One of them had a silver handgun.  They fled south onto East Main Street from Boston Avenue according to radio reports.

Escapee Back in Custody of the Bridgeport Police Department

#Bridgeport, Conn. (October 23, 2015) – Today, the Bridgeport Police Department announced that a recent escapee, Nelson Vega of Stratford, is in custody and being processed.

 

In the midst of an active search by the Bridgeport Police Department, today at approximately 10:30 p.m., recent escapee Nelson Vega (01/03/86) turned himself in to Police Headquarters (300 Congress St.).

 

“Mr. Vega turned himself in as a direct result of police pressure,” said Police Chief Joseph Gaudett. “Our officers put the full court press on Mr. Vega’s friends, family, and associates. He knew he had two choices: he could turn himself in or we would bring him in. He got the message.”

 

Vega was charged with Escape from Custody, in addition to the previous Burglary charge.  Bond was set at $250,000.

 

BACKGROUND: On Tuesday, October 20 at around 6:30 a.m., Vega was arrested and booked for burglary.

 

On Wednesday, October 21 at approximately 9:30 a.m., police officers began the process of transporting Vega from the Bridgeport Police Department to the Golden Hill St. courthouse to be arraigned.

 

While being transferred Vega escaped police custody.

Fairfield Schools On Lock Down

Fairfield CT–UPDATE: All after school activities have been cancelled throughout Fairfield including sports and the book fair.  Walkers can be picked up from the school as usual if you can get through the media parked out in many of the schools   A state police contingency is arriving by 1:15 according to radio reports.

UPDATE: All schools are dismissing early, DO NOT go to the school, parents will be turned away according to Lieutenant Perez.  All children are safe and police are taking precautions to ensure their safety.

#Fairfield CT–A number of Fairfield Schools have received 911 bomb threats and are now now lock down.  I’m told they may dismiss early.  I’m on my way to police headquarters for more info. Stay tuned.  Trumbull, Monroe and Westport are proving police mutual aid.  All schools appear locked down
