10:37pm–#Ansonia Connecticut– Grease in an oven caused a smoke condition in Rosa Mina Restaurant and is the reason East Main Street was closed (I was on my way back from my class reunion is Oxford when the call came over my portable scanner).

On September 16, 2016, at approximately 12:18 AM, the Norwalk Police Department responded to the area of 22 Wall Street for a fight. Arriving officers were immediately notified that three men were in the Norwalk River. Officers observed two men climbing out of the river and observed a third in the distance, swimming towards the Wall Street overpass. Officers immediately went to area but lost sight of the man. A search ensued, with the Norwalk Police Marine Unit and the Norwalk Fire Department searching the river. The Connecticut State Police Dive Team were also requested with additional specialized equipment. At this time, the male has not been located. Norwalk Detectives and the Marine Unit are actively investigating the incident. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Norwalk Detectives Taranto at 203-854-3012. 12:09pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A two car crash at Brooklawn and Brentwood Avenue. Expect delays. First responders are checking for injuries. The accident is blocking the roadway heading towards Bridgeport. Avoid the area.
11:40am–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A man in a motorized wheelchair has been hit by a car at the intersection of Hawley and Main Street. EMS transported him across the street to St. Vincent’s Hospital. The man’s family who came to pick up the wheelchair said he did not appear to be seriously injured. The driver of the car did stop and is cooperating with police.
On September 16, 2016 at 12:09 pm, Norwalk Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Plattsville Avenue for a report of an injured male. Arriving officers located a male under a vehicle in the driveway and immediately began rendering aid. The man, whose identity is not being released at this time, was transported to Norwalk Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Detective Bureau has assumed the investigation.

11:20pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A short pursuit after shots fired at Seeley and Lewis Street has ended as the suspects fled from the car at Elmwood and Laurel. Police have two detained and still looking for a black male with braids wearing a blue and black hoodie. A knife has been recovered. A fight was thought to have started the shots fired. Shell casings have been located at Seeley and Lewis.

4:19pm–#Fairfield Connecticut– There were no injuries and no one at home at this house fire on Longfellow Avenue. When the call came over the scanner I knew it was close. I ran to the scene with my camera, set it up and ran to the house with another person who kicked in the door. I yelled fire in the front as he ran to the back, we were relieved no one was inside. I then directed traffic to get the cars off the road so that firefighters could get their trucks to the scene.
Assistant Fire Chief Scott Bisson said it appears the fire had started on the back deck. Fire spread up to the side of the building to the second floor. They still do not know the cause of the blaze and the fire marshal was on scene to investigate the cause. There were no reported injuries.
4:19pm–#Fairfield Connecticut- No hubo heridos y nadie en casa en este incendio en Longfellow Avenue. Cuando llegó la llamada sobre el escáner sabía que estaba cerca. 2:22pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A downed power line on Brooks Street “clothes lined” a child on Brooks Street according to radio reports. An officer on patrol called it in and had EMS respond.

1:11pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– An alert public works employees called police and firefighters when a power line came down at North and Remer Street. The line started a small fire at the electrical box on the side of the church.
