Bridgeport News: Man Hands Teller A Note Someone With A Gun Is Threatening Him
7:00pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A person handed a teller note at People’s Bank inside Stop and Shop at upper Main Street. The note said someone was threatening him (not the teller) with a gun. Police have one person in custody and one is at large. The incident is reported to have happened on Wood Avenue.

Bridgeport News: Garage Fire
3:22pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– EMS in the area, called their dispatch of heavy smoke in the area of Sheridan Street and Ogden Street Extension. Firefighters responded, confirming the smoke in the area. They found a two and half story garage on fire at 47 Mead Street. Within a half hour firefighters had the bulk of the fire knocked down. There were no reported injuries.

From 12:00am to 11:59pm March 9th, donors can go online at https://fcgives.org/designee/friends-of- the-fairfield- public-library to support the Friends and the Fairfield Public Library. The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum. Whether you give $10 or $1000, your donation will make a difference! Danielle Sharp, Director of Development for the Friends, says, “This will be our third year participating in the event, with the amount of our total donations rising every year. We are hoping to break last year’s record of $2,133, while at the same time raise awareness about who the Friends are and what we do.”
In existence since 2003, The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the partnership between the Fairfield Public Library and the community, and advocating for quality library service for all of the people of the town of Fairfield. Over the past thirteen years, The Friends have provided over $300,000 to the Library to support special programs, services and resources not included in the operating budget, including a commitment to fund the Library’s museum pass program with $10,000 a year for 10 years. The Friends sponsor the Fairfield Public Library’s One Book One Town celebration and its Soundwaves Concert Series. They also manage the Bruce S. Kershner Art Gallery, and oversee the ongoing sale of gently used books, tapes and CD’s in The Twice REaD Room, both at the Main Library. The Friends also offer a Books as Gifts program which allows people to honor or remember a loved one with a bookplate placed in a new book to be added to the Library’s collection.

Fairfield News: Power Out After Truck Hits Utility Pole
11:54pm–#Fairfield Connecticut–A truck hit a utility pole and a stonewall on Burr Street near Congress Street knocking out power in the area. Avoid the area. A transformer is reported split in half and leaking. The road is closed at Shetland Road.

Bridgeport News: Guy Throws Brick Through Window, Cop Get Him
12:34pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A homeowner on Sheridan Street said a man in a blue Ford Explorer threw a brick in the window of his house. Police locate the driver at Boston and Sheridan. He attempted to take off on police but crashed on Orange Street and then attempted to flee on foot. Cops catch him on Central Avenue.

UPDATE: Possibly happened on Goddard Street. Expect police activity in the area.
11:43pm—#Bridgeport Connecticut– A stabbing victim just showed up at Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle. Initial reports say he was stabbed in the rib area. No word on where in town the stabbing took place.
I’m losing count of all the stabbing victims this week. 5 or 6?

11:21pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– St. Vincent’s Hospital at 2800 Main Street called police that a pit bull walked through their open emergency doors and into the emergency room. They have him contained.
Bridgeport News: Man Stabbed
7:51pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– Police are investigating a stabbing outside Quickie’s Market at 165 Washington Avenue. The man was stabbed in the chest.
