2:19pm–#Fairfield CT–A car and a box truck tried to occupy the same spot at Kings Highway and Meadowcroft, no injuries reported.  A few minutes ago another crash, this time with injuries were reported in front of Star Towing/gas station at Jennings and Black Rock Turnpike.  I’m sure I’ll be reporting from Kings Highway East and Longfellow soon.

 

 

 

Bridgeport News: Family Homeless After North End Fire

10:25am–#Bridgeport CT– The Red Cross is providing shelter for a family after a fire at the Second Stone Ridge Co-Op at  Stoneridge Circle this morning.  The fire which is under investigation ripped through one unit and damaged two other units.  Nobody was reported injured.

Bridgeport News: Homicide Arrest

#Bridgeport CT–Yesterday, detectives arrested Waldo “Abel” Gonzalez (DOB: 5/24/74) and charged him with the July 2nd homicide of Ronald Simmons. Gonzalez is accused of fatally shooting Simmons at Norman Street and Freemont Avenue after a dispute between their families. For their roles in the dispute, Gonzalez’ wife, Luz Perez (DOB: 8/4/78), and his two daughters were also arrested. Gonzalez is charged with Murder, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Pistol Without a Permit, and Risk of Injury to a Minor. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond. Perez is charged with Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Assault in the Third Degree, and Breach of Peace. She has a $25,000 bond. Both of Gonzalez’ daughters, 118-year-old Dynasty Gonzalez, and his 15 year old juvenile daughter face Assault in the Third Degree and Breach of Peace charges. Dynasty has a $5,000 bond and the juvenile was released without bond.

Fairfield News: Person Killed After Being Hit By Train

UPDATE: Fairfield police said Daniel Scott Kurimsky of Shelton died after he was hit on Metro North train tracks around 12:45 a.m.  Police said Kurimsky worked Geronimo Southwest Grill and Tequila Bar which was open until 9pm. The Office of the Chief Medical examiner is ruling it an accident and the Metropolitan Transit Authority is still investigating the incident

 

1:00am–#Fairfield CT– #MTA–A man walking on the tracks in the Fairfield/Southport area of town was killed.  The location was behind Lacey Lane, a private roadway.  The man was thrown into the Mill River which ran under the train tracks.   Assistant Fire Chief Roger Caisse told me that firefighters had deployed their Rapid Deployment Craft which assisted the firefighters in locating the body and moved it to a location where the investigation can take place.  The body will be transferred to the MTA who will conduct the investigation and will be turned over to the New York Medical Examiner for their investigation.  It is not known if the person died as a result of their injuries of being hit or if they drowned.
