I-95 Crash!

9:30pm–#Bridgeport CT–#cttraffic– A two car crash with possible entrapment I-95 southbound where else but 27A. It appears to be in the left median, traffic does not appear to be too bad.

Fairfield News: Motorcyclist Down

7:45pm–#Fairfield CT– Report of a motorcyclist and his passenger down at South Benson Road and Craig Place. No mention of any other vehicles involved.

Bridgeport News: Crash!

7:40pm–#Bridgeport CT– A three car crash at Chopsey Hill Road and Island Brook Extension. First responders just arriving on scene. No word on any injuries.

Bridgeport News: Two House Burn On Lee Avenue

1:44am–#Bridgeport heavy fire to two houses 41 and 51 Lee Avenue. Firefighters quickly had 51 Lee Avenue under control but firefighters could not make entry to 41 Lee Avenue due to heavy fire in the stairwell. After a short time the fire was so heavy in 41 the evacuation tones were sounded and the firefighters were ordered out of the building and fought the flames from the exterior. Within the hour the fire was under control. Firefighters from surrounding towns provided mutual aid to cover the empty firehouses. As of 2:40am there were no reported injuries.

2:40am–#Oxford CT– A house fire reported at 12 Churchview Road. Radio reports indicate on the the frame of the home remains.

Bridgeport News: Crashes On North Avenue!

7:35pm–#Bridgeport CT– A single car crash into a utility pole at Housatonic and North Washington Avenue. The driver suffered serious leg injuries according to firefighters who extricated him from the vehicle.

5:18pm–#Bridgeport CT– There is a tree down on Grovers/Old Battery Road between Armitage and Anchorage Place. The road is blocked and power is out in the area.

Southport Galleries Presents Abstract Women

Southport Galleries presents Abstract Women, a lively exhibition of contemporary paintings with selective works by six leading edge, female artists with strong local roots: Katherine Evans, Katy Ferrarone, Ellen Hermanos, Beth Munro, Kim Romero, Helen Werngren. The exhibit runs from October 20 – November 18.

Curatorial Director Philip Eliasoph cites the famous words of artist, Georgia O’Keeffe: ‘I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other — things I had no words for.’ “It is in that spirit we present the talented voices of these women addressing today’s trending styles in contemporary art, with six signature variations,” continues Dr. Eliasoph.

Southport Galleries Co-Directors Sissy Biggers and Jennifer Cargill invite patrons to compare and contrast how each artist is navigating her own set of painterly approaches ranging from images of harmoniously colorful hues, delicately rendered compositions to bright interwoven angles searching beyond the frame. The exhibit surveys original artistic approaches, which reveal each artist’s visual journey and feminine points of view.

“We invite collectors, home designers and art lovers to this fall cornucopia of fresh, off-the-easel paintings,” says Jennifer Cargill. “Come join us to experience these indisputably ‘now’ contemporary works.”

In collaboration with the Pequot Library’s annual Art Show week, Southport Galleries will host a special opening reception on Friday, October 20^th, 5-8PM which will benefit the library’s programs and outreach. Free and open to the public.
