#Fairfield CT–On 4/3/2018, at 12:04 AM, a Southport resident reported observing a suspicious white Lexus in the area of the Southport Ridge. Several occupants of the car were walking the neighborhood and trying to open the doors of parked cars in the neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found several vehicles had been entered, but the suspects were not found. Moments later, Westport police reported they were pursuing a white Lexus, stolen from Trumbull. The stolen Lexus crashed in Norwalk and all 4 occupants (two adults and 2 Juveniles) were taken into custody and turned over to the Fairfield Police. Arrested: Maya Jeter (DOB 12/4/1998), Olive Street, Bridgeport, 5 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6th Degree, 5 counts of Conspiracy to commit Burglary 3 rd Degree. Arrested: Christopher Mulkern ( DOB 10/26/1999) of Hollister Street, Stratford, 5 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6 th Degree, 5 counts of Conspiracy to commit Burglary 3rd . Burglary 3 rd Degree, and Larceny 6th Degree. 2 Juveniles were also arrested for 5 counts of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 6th Degree, 5 counts of Conspiracy to commit Burglary 3 rd Degree. Burglary 3 rd Degree, and Larceny 6th Degree. One of the juveniles was also charged with Larceny 1 st Degree for the theft of the Lexus. The juveniles were turned over to their parents. Jeter and Mulkern are scheduled to appear in court on 4/14/2018.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (April 3, 2018) The Housatonic Community College Foundation will honor Yusuff Abdu, a former graduate who made scientific history, at the 9th Annual HCC Foundation Gala from 6:00 to 11pm on April 21st in the stunning new Lafayette Atrium, located at the College.
Originally from Nigeria, Abdu came to the U.S. in 2004, graduated from HCC two years later and went on to graduate from the University of Connecticut in 2008. He was accepted into New York University’s DNA Recombinant Technology Biology Master’s Program, where he became a PhD candidate in the Developmental Genetics program at NYU School of Medicine.
There, he discovered a previously uncharacterized form of cell remodeling in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans primordial germ cells. His seminal work was published and reviewed in scientific journals and has won him many awards including the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute International Student Fellowship.
“Yusuff Abdu is living proof of how HCC is a stepping stone to the future. We provide opportunities for students to mature, determine a career path and become leaders of tomorrow,” said Fiona Hodgson, Executive Director of the HCC Foundation. “Many of our students go on to prestigious four year institutions and graduate schools. People need to realize that expectations have changed, our exceptional education is providing a solid foundation for potential Ph.D.s.”
The gala celebrates the 50th anniversary of Housatonic Community College and honors exceptional individuals in the areas of philanthropic and academic excellence. Abdu will be honored with the Young Alumni Award, recognizing his tremendous achievements in the scientific field, including his rise to a Ph.D. from NYU School of Medicine, his many awards and his seminal work discovering a previously uncharacterized form of cell remodeling.

The Fairfield Police Department is seeking the vehicle pictured below, possibly a 2000-2004 Nissan Maxima, in connection with a strong arm robbery/purse snatching that took place in the parking lot of Stop and Shop, 760 Villa Ave on 04/01/18 at approximately 3:15pm. The suspect, a white male, mid 20’s, beard, reddish brown hair, approached 2 women in the lot and yanked the purse off one of them after a brief struggle. 11:54am–#Bridgeport CT– Police responded to a panic teller alarm at the People’s Bank inside the Stop and Shop at 2145 Fairfield Avenue. According to radio reports the suspect may have attempted the robbery with a note but did not follow through with the robbery. He fled south on Fairfield Avenue towards the post office. He was wearing a winter jacket with plastic bags on his feet.

Fairfield Police UPDATE: The Fairfield Police Department is seeking information following a robbery of the Mobil Gas Station located at 1271 Stratfield Rd. At approximately 08:52pm on 04/01/18, the suspect (pictured below), a taller, stocky, white male wearing a full grey ski mask, grey pants, brown boots, a black hoodie carrying a knife in his right hand entered the store through the front door. The male then ordered the clerk behind the cash register to open the cash drawer. The suspect fled the store after obtaining an undetermined amount of cash from the register. The suspect entered the passenger side of a light gray Chevy Silverado pick-up truck bearing an unknown Connecticut registration plate. The truck appeared to have a dark, possibly black, ladder rack and tool style box in the bed of the truck. The Chevy Silverado appeared to be a mid 90’s model with the Chevy symbol in the middle of the tailgate. FPD Officer’s pursued a vehicle matching the description on 04/01/18 which was not apprehended and was last seen on Hawley Ave headed toward Main St in Bridgeport. 9:11pm–#Fairfield CT– Tonight’s gas station robbery was once again at the Stratfield Mobil at 1271 Stratfield Road. The station was robbed on March 26th. Star Fuels at Jennings and Black Rock Turnpike was robbed on March 25th and on February 11th. Police said the suspect, a male displayed a knife and matched the previous robber’s description.
