#Stratford CT—A fire was extinguished Monday morning at 45 Buckskin Lane that caused extensive damage to the roof. The fire was contained to one side of a two-unit condominium and was extinguished within 20 minutes of the arrival of the Fire Department. At 5:37 AM, Firefighters were dispatched to the above address for a report of a fire coming through the roof. The Engine 4 Crew arrived to find a significant amount of smoke and fire from the roof above the front entryway. The Crew conducted a search of the residence and found the owner asleep in bed and unaware of the emergency; she was evacuated to the outside and treated for non-life threatening exposure from the smoke. Under the command of Assistant Chief Camperlengo, the fire was contained to an area above the front entry and the roof of 45B Buckskin Lane. The Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that an exterior light fixture had failed and burned through the exterior wall into the attic and through the roof. The owner will be displaced until repairs to the roof can be made and the interior of the property can be cleaned.

Police Investigate Saturday Night Shooting

#Bridgeport CT– Saturday night police received a number of calls when a car drove to the intersection of Capital and Main Street. The victim was shot in the knee and was transported to the hospital by private vehicle. Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez said they have a number of witnesses to the shooting including a partial license plate from the responsible vehicle. A large number of 9mm shell casings were found in the roadway at Main and Capital Avenue.

Monroe News: Chemical Fire – One Burned

At approximately 2:20 pm on May 14th, fire, EMS and police were called to Axel Plastics Research Laboratories, Inc. located at 50 Cambridge Drive in Monroe for a reported fire in the building with an injured party. This was a chemical fire that was extinguished prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Two employees were injured in the incident and transported to a local hospital by EMS. I have no further information regarding the extent of their injuries or condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation by the Monroe Fire Marshal’s Office and the State of CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP).

 

2:20pm–#Monroe CT– There is a chemical fire at Axel Plastics Research Laboratories, Inc. at 50 Cambridge Drive.  There is a report of one person being burned.  The extent of their injuries are not known at this time.  Firefighters reporting the fire is now out.
