Merritt Rollover

Westport Fire Department UPDATE: Westport Fire, EMS, and CT State Police were requested to respond to a reported motor vehicle crash with a report of a person trapped on the Merritt Parkway. The first arriving fire unit reported a single vehicle on its roof in the left lane just south of exit 42. Fire personnel checked the vehicle and confirmed that a single occupant was trapped in the vehicle. A second occupant was able to climb out of the vehicle prior to units arriving. Westport Fire deployed a protective hose line and began to setup for extrication. Fire units assessed the patient while access to the vehicle was made. Fire units used stabilization tools and a combination of spreaders and cutters to remove the vehicles doors. The patient was removed from the vehicle extrication and was turned over to Westport EMS for care. Once extrication was complete, the vehicle began to smoke and subsequently caught fire. Fire personnel extinguished the fire, which was isolated to the engine compartment. Two patients were transported to the hospital and CT State Police is conducting the investigation. The highway was shut down for approximately one hour until the vehicle could be removed.

Bridgeport News: Serious Accident

2020-06-07@6:30am–#Bridgeport CT–The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received the report of a Motor Vehicle vs Motor Vehicle crash at the intersection of Boston Avenue and North Summerfield Avenue.

The operator of a 2007 Honda Civic, identified as Alex Rivera Jr of Milford was traveling eastbound on Boston Avenue approaching the intersection with North Summerfield. Rivera swerved for an unknown reason into the westbound lane. As Rivera swerved into oncoming traffic a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Leonardo Jimenez  of Stratford was traveling westbound on Boston Avenue approaching North Summerfield. Jimenez attempted to swerve to the left but was unable to avoid collision with Rivera’s vehicle.

Bridgeport Fire Department, AMR and the Bridgeport Police Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene.

The operator of the Honda Alex Rivera Jr was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with Serious Injuries and listed in critical condition.

The operator of the Chevrolet Silverado Leonardo Jimenez was transported to Bridgeport Hospital with minor non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the Bridgeport Hospital.

Bridgeport News: Two More Shot

UPDATE:The two victims were shot in the legs. They say it happened on East Avenue, Both are highly intoxicated and combative according to radio reports.

 

2020-06-07@1:19am– Bridgeport CT– Police received shots fired at PT Barnum Housing.  Police located a blood trail between buildings 4 and 5.  A short time later police received a call from Bridgeport Hospital that two gunshot victims showed up in a private vehicle.
