(Westport, CT) – The Westport Downtown Merchants Association will be holding an outdoor downtown shopping event this Saturday, July 17th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This event will necessitate the closure of Main Street between Post Road East and Avery Place as well as Elm Street between Main Street and the Baldwin Lot from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Saturday, July 17th. These road closures will result in traffic congestion downtown and increased pedestrian traffic. Motorists should expect delays in the center of town due to these closures. The Police Department asks that pedestrians utilize the marked crosswalks and motorists use extra caution while driving through the area.
On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, a single car motor vehicle accident, occurred in Trumbull, ending with the death of a Bridgeport teen. The victim, a seventeen (17) year old male, was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle. At around 12:30 AM, the Trumbull Police received several 911 calls to report the motor vehicle accident in the area of Old Town Road near Quarry Road. Arriving Trumbull officers began rendering medical aid to him. Nelson Ambulance arrived and assisted with treating the victim before transporting him to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died from his injuries. The Trumbull Center Fire Department also responded and assisted with securing the scene. The teen’s vehicle had traveled Westerly on Old Town Road before it collided with the guard rail and bridge abutment near White Plains Road (Route 127), before coming to rest near Quarry Road. The accident scene spanned the entire block of Old Town Road. The Trumbull and Monroe Police Department’s Traffic Divisions are currently investigating this incident. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification. At approximately 7:00 AM, the area of Old Town Road between White Plains Road and Quarry Road has been reopened. Traffic flow has since returned to normal and the detours around the area of Old Town Road are no longer in effect.
Effective immediately, motorists should avoid the area of Old Town Road, between Quarry Road and White Plains Road (Route 127) in Trumbull, which is near the Bridgeport town line, due to a motor vehicle accident. The Trumbull Police is currently investigating the accident, and this section of the road will remained closed for the next several hours. Motorists should avoid this area and use alternate routes until further notice.

2021-07-13 @ 11:24am–#Bridgeport CT– DoingItLocal News Warrior Henry was at the scene of a today’s vehicle fire on Laurel Avenue. The fire was put out with a portable fire extinguisher prior to firefighters arrival.
#Bridgeport CT– On July 12, 2021, at approximately 11:27 p.m. Bridgeport Police responded to the area of Gregory Street and Rennel Court on the report of shots fired with a party down. Upon arrival, officers observed a crowd of citizens surrounding a vehicle parked on Rennell Court with an unresponsive male positioned in the driver’s seat.
That person, a 27 year old Ansonia man, was quickly transported to Bridgeport Hospital with a critical gunshot wound. He passed away this morning at the hospital (July 13,2021) The Detective Bureau Homicide and Identification Units have responded and taken charge of the investigation. Although they are at the early stages of this investigation, they are currently working on several leads.
