Bridgeport News: Pedestrian Struck

#Bridgeport CT– On October 6, 2021 at approximately 8:15 pm the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a callfor a report of a Car vs Pedestrian crash at Boston Avenue and Weber Avenue.

A pedestrian from Stratford CT was crossing Boston Avenue and Weber Avenue from the north east corner heading southbound. As he was crossing a red Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound on Boston Avenue, driven by a male party from Shelton CT, struck the pedestrian. After striking the pedestrian the driver pulled his vehicle over and remained on scene.

The Bridgeport Fire Department and AMR responded to the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Bridgeport Hospital. He sustained life threatening injuries and remains in critical but stable condition.

The Bridgeport Police Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene. Bridgeport Police Traffic Division Officer Thomas Gallbronner is leading the Investigation for the crash. Anyone with further information regarding the crash is asked to contact the Bridgeport Police Traffic Division at 203-576-7640.

The new Fairfield PD app enables the public to share an anonymous tip with police and
lets officers respond back to create an anonymous two-way conversation.

The Fairfield PD app and Tip411 anonymous text a tip system are 100% anonymous, as

Bridgeport News: Car Accident Closes Boston Ave

2021-10-06@8:15pm– #Bridgeport CT– At 8:15pm I received two media alerts, on for a crash at Boston and Chopsey Hill and another on Boston Avenue in the 2100 block which I have received a number of messages asking if there was a shooting because of the crime scene tape. EMS has not been called for any stabbing or shootings.

Heading North? Expect I-84 Delays

The work consists of repairing guiderail on I-84 Westbound between exits 2-4. The work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 7, 2021 and end on Friday, October 8, 2021.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect alternating Left and Right Lane Closures. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists around the work zone. The night work schedule for this project is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

Bridgeport News: Homicide #16 A Justifiable Homicide

This morning, at 3:38 a.m., officers responded to 256 Cottage Street on a report of a man stabbed. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Victor Cruz (DOB:1/9/73 of 256 Cottage Street), who had sustained a stab wound to his back. Cruz was taken to Bridgeport Hospital by ambulance and died at 9:30 a.m.

Officers located the party believed to be responsible, Chantel Williams (DOB: 12/11/90). Williams was found to be in possession of heroin and arrested on drug charges.

Members of the Homicide Unit were assigned to the investigation and interviewed Williams. After reviewing the evidence in this case and consulting with State’s Attorney Joseph Corradino, it has been determined that Williams will not be charged in connection to the homicide. At this time, the facts of the case indicate that Cruz attacked Williams to rob her of her heroin. It is believed that during the assault, Williams defended herself and stabbed Cruz.

Bridgeport News: Person Stabbed

2021-10-06@3:40am–#Bridgeport CT– Bridgeport Police reported in a release that a person received a deep wound to the back as a result of a stabbing while on State Street. Detectives are investigating.
