2022-02-28@5:05pm–#Monroe CT– #cttraffic– State police are in pursuit of black Nissan Rouge after Bridgeport Police broke off the pursuit on Route 25 northbound. The car was involved in an armed robbery. The vehicle was stolen out of Waterbury yesterday. There are two in the vehicle and are considered armed and dangerous.
#Fairfield CT–On February 28, 2022, at approximately 3PM, the Fairfield Police Department received reports of a vehicle crash involving a school bus on Mill Plain Road near the intersection of Sconset Road. Officers arrived on scene to find a small First Student school bus had struck a utility pole. The driver of the bus sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The school bus was carrying two (2) middle school aged children, none of whom were injured.The bus originated from Tomlinson Middle School. The Fairfield Fire Department and AMR Ambulance responded for patient care. The bus driver was transported to an area hospital. All children were turned over to parents/guardians after being evaluated on scene. One additional adult passenger was evaluated by medical personnel on scene but refused transport.
Traffic delays and detours can be expected in the area as emergency personnel await a response from UI and Frontier to secure the utility pole and remove the school bus.
The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. This accident remains under investigation by the Fairfield Police Department Crash Investigation Unit.

Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport Health Department has been awarded $15,000 from the United States Conference of Mayors 2022 Childhood Obesity Prevention and Environmental Health & Sustainability Grant. The US Conference of Mayors selected Bridgeport with a 3rd place award in the category of “medium cities” to support programs that engage the community and promote childhood obesity prevention, environmental health, and sustainability, or a hybrid of both.
The City of Bridgeport will be using these grant funds for the installation of a brand new, state-of-the-art outdoor fitness facility in Bridgeport. This facility, designed by our partners at the National Fitness Campaign, will be the site of several new and existing youth-focused public health initiatives aimed to reduce childhood obesity while fostering an appreciation for Bridgeport’s beautiful public parks.
Mayor Ganim stated, “We look forward to building this Fitness Court in the Spring of ’22 with programs from our Health and Parks and Recreation Departments to start soon after. There are so many ways to enjoy the many parks and green spaces in our city, and now children will also be able to access a free and easy-to-use health resource for persons of all ages and experience levels.”

#Bridgeport CT–On February 25, 2022, at approximately 7:15PM the Bridgeport Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Division conducted proactive motor vehicle enforcement in the area of Park Avenue and Austin Street. Members of the Narcotics and Vice Division observed a motor vehicle traveling in that area with an invalid/fake temporary registration and conducted a motor vehicle stop. The operator, identified as 31-year-old Kenneth Joyner of Bridgeport CT, was found to be in possession of an illegal loaded 9mm “Ghost” handgun as well as marijuana packaged for sale. Subsequent to this investigation narcotics officers located another loaded handgun with an obliterated serial number, additional marijuana packaged for sale, a digital scale, and U.S. paper currency.
Joyner was charged with Falsifying a Marker Plate (14-147(a), Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance (14-213b), Operating a Motor Vehicle Under Suspension (14-215(a), Carrying a Pistol without a Permit (29-35a), Weapons in a Motor Vehicle (29-38), Alteration of Firearm Identification Mark (29- 36), Possession of a Ghost Gun PA 19-6, Possession with Intent to Sell (21a-277(b(2A*), Possession of a Controlled Substance (21a-279(a), and Operation of a Drug Factory 21a-277(c). Joyner’s bond was set at $200,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court on February 28, 2022.
