Ansonia News: Narcotics Arrest

#Ansonia CT–On March 29, 2023, the Ansonia Police Department and DEA New Haven Task Force with the assistance of the New Haven Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit & Shooting Task Force and Connecticut State Police Violent Crime Task Force executed a search warrant on Howard Avenue in Ansonia. The warrant was the result of a joint investigation into the distribution of narcotics. During the service of the warrant, a large number of drugs and cash were recovered and the target of the investigation was arrested. Seized during the warrant were 448 grams of cocaine, 186 grams of crack, 10 grams of Fentanyl, and $100,000.00 in cash.

Daqwon Graham, age 28, of Ansonia was arrested and charged with Possession of Narcotics, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, Possession of Narcotics within 200 feet of a School, Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell within 200 feet of a school. Graham posted a $150,000.00 bond and will be arraigned on April 12, 2023, at Derby Superior Court.

Drive to Save Lives 2023 Campaign

Crash-related fatalities are ranked as one of the top causes of death in the U.S. Many of these crashes are caused by highly visible driver-related factors, including speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving. The CT State Police is joining forces with other law enforcement agencies along the I-95 corridor in the “Drive to Save Lives” campaign. This campaign is a multi-jurisdictional, high-visibility traffic enforcement initiative to increase traffic enforcement presence along the I-95 corridor from Maine to Florida – including across Connecticut – from Saturday, April 1, 2023, to Monday, April 3, 2023. Motorists can expect to see Troopers working diligently to keep them safe as they travel throughout the state on I-95.

Ribbon Cutting At Cornerstone Medical Training Center

Chamber member, Cornerstone Medical Training Center, is celebrated its grand opening with an official ribbon cutting held on March 30th, at noon. The ceremony will be officiated by First Selectwoman, Brenda Kupchick, and then a second ribbon cutting with the Bridgeport Regional Business Council.

Owner, Peggy Colas-Dixon and Shanoy Dixon invited the public to attend and take part in the festivities (Food/Music/Giveaways). Peggy has a Bachelor’s in Nursing and has extensive experience in medical-surgical nursing, at the Bridgeport Hospital.

When asked why they selected Fairfield to open their Training Center, Peggy replied: “The Center is right on the border of Fairfield and Bridgeport, so therefore, it is very convenient to serve both communities.

Westport News: Failure to Appear 2nd

#Westrport CT–On March 28th, 2023, an officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on Post Rd East near the Fairfield town line. During the course of the stop, the officer determined that the operator, Andre Chin, had an active re-arrest warrant from another jurisdiction. Mr. Chin was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and transported to Westport Police Department. Mr. Chin was processed and released on a $3000 court-set bond with a court date of April 5th, 2023 at Stamford Superior Court..

Bridgeport News: Stabbing

2023-03-30@ 01:15am, the Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received a phone call from Bridgeport Hospital. The hospital reported that a woman with a stab wound, which was not life-threatening, was dropped off by a private vehicle. The officers collected information that the incident happened near a club located at the intersection of Pembroke St and Arctic St. The Detective Bureau was notified.

Incarcerated Man arrested for Violating Protective Order

#Shelton CT– On 03/28/2023 the Shelton Police Department arrested 27-year Gordon Cole of Shelton.
Cole was charged with one count of Violation of a Protective Order and remained
incarcerated on an additional $10,000 bond.
Cole was previously arrested in Shelton on 12/29/2022 for several Domestic Violence
charges including 7 counts of violation of a protective order. After the December arrest,
Cole was incarcerated and the court issued a Protective Order stating that he is to have no
contact with the victim in the original arrest.
During Cole’s incarceration, the Department of Correction alerted Law Enforcement that
they suspected Cole of having phone conversations with the victim from the original
arrest. Shelton Police conducted an investigation into these phone calls and discovered
that Cole made and received approximately 70 phone calls in prison to the victim using
fictitious names and using codes to hide their identities.

Tonight’s Vehicle Fire

How about some likes for a trucker who stopped his rounds to save a man and dog from a burning car. As I first reported tonight at 8:11pm, firefighters were called to a car fire on I-95 near exit 19. As Assistant Fire Chief Gomola pulled up to the scene you can see a truck to the right that was protecting the scene from oncoming cars. Assistant Chief Gomola told me that a trucker from Maine pulled the man from the car, pulled him to a safe spot, and then went in to rescue the man’s German Shepherd in the back seat. The man was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries and Fairfield’s Animal Control came to take the dog for the night. Way to go trucker and first responders!

“Must Carry” TV Stations

In 2011 The Nielson company, you know the company that gives the ratings of TV stations was thinking of changing Fairfield County to be part of the broadcast market. Bridgeport, Fairfield, Stratford, etc. have all been considered the New York news and TV market since people were putting aerials up on their roofs to watch TV. It hasn’t changed since the 1950s.

“Must carry stations” for cable operators are determined by this. “Cable must-carry” stations are TV channels that cable providers are legally required to carry within a specific geographic area. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) established these rules to ensure that local broadcast stations can reach their audiences through cable TV, which has become a primary means of delivering television content to households.

Under the must-carry rules, cable providers must carry all local broadcast stations that request carriage, either as a must-carry station or as a station that elects to be carried under retransmission consent rules. These rules aim to prevent cable companies from discriminating against certain stations or charging them higher fees than other stations. It’s important to note that these rules apply to all cable providers, whether they are large national companies or small local operators. That is stations that are required to be Fox 61 haven’t been on Optimum for over five years.

YoutubeTV and the other streaming services will only offer you the New York Market in Fairfield County even though our traffic and weather are much different. You can watch local Connecticut news on the station’s website. There have been a number of online attempts to watch your local channels like Newsy, Vuit, Local Now, and Hatstack News but I’m yet to find it work like a normal broadcast. Even News12 is available, but the New York market.
