MURPHY TO VISIT HEAD START PROGRAM
HARTFORD—U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, on Friday will visit the CREC Head Start at the Swift Factory. More than 5,500 children and families are served by Head Start in Connecticut. Murphy will tour the facilities and gather feedback from staff on both the workforce shortage and extremely high demand for care they face. Murphy will discuss the importance of Congress taking action to pass additional funding for childcare in President Biden’s supplemental domestic funding package.
Bridgeport News: Another Park Avenue Arrest
28-year-old Rhameir Marqui Bush of Ansonia CT was taken into custody this morning in Bristol Connecticut for his involvement in the August 22, 2023, triple shooting on Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT. He is charged with Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Illegal Discharge of a Firearm. His bond is set at 750 thousand dollars.
Bush was served with three additional warrants as follows:
Failure to appear in the 1st Degree. Bond is set at 1 million dollars.
Possession of Narcotics. Bond is set at 75 thousand dollars.
Engaging Police in Pursuit, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Evading Responsibility, Interfering with a Police Officer, and Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree. Bond is set at 200 thousand dollars.
Fairfield News: Jewelry Store Break-In
#Fairfied CT–Around 11:45 pm police received a call from the alarm company about a possible break in at Lenox Jewelry on Black Rock Turnpike. The first responding officer confirmed a glass break on a front window. Police are investigating.
120mph on Route 8/25
On 11/26/2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Troopers assigned to Troop G in Bridgeport observed a green BMW traveling in excess of 120 MPH on Route 8 southbound in the area of Exit 2 in Bridgeport.
This area has a posted speed limit of 55 MPH. When Troopers attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop the BMW, accelerated and entered onto I-95 southbound, eluding Troopers.
Minutes later, another Trooper observed the same vehicle exiting I-95 southbound at Exit 18 in Westport and attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop. In response, the BMW fled the area, again eluding Troopers.
Patrol units in the area were advised that the same vehicle, a BMW sedan displaying a New Jersey registration, had just fled from Westport Police and entered the Merritt Parkway, traveling northbound.
Shortly thereafter, Troopers, with the assistance of Trumbull Police, located the BMW operator, identified as Ethan Steier, DOB 02/19/2003, of Warren, New Jersey, and the BMW parked on Waller Road in Bridgeport. Steier was subsequently taken into custody and transported to Troop G, where he was processed and charged with the following:
C.G.S. 14-222*, Reckless Driving C.G.S. 14-223(a), Disobeying the Signal of an Officer
Steier was later released on a $1,000 cash/surety bond and is scheduled for arraignment at Bridgeport Superior Court, on 01/08/2024.
Shelton News: Downtown Robbery
Shelton CT– On 11/27/2023, Jalen Bolton and Ashan Langston were arrested by the Shelton Police Department in connection with a robbery that took place in downtown Shelton. The charges against them include Robbery 1st Degree, Larceny 3rd Degree, and Conspiracy. Additionally, Jalen Bolton faces a charge of possession of narcotics with intent to sell after crack cocaine was found in his possession.
The incident leading to their arrest occurred around 5:30 PM in the Municipal Parking lot at 415 Howe Ave. The police were initially dispatched to a fight at the location, but the individuals involved had fled by the time officers arrived. Later, the victim of the robbery reported to the Shelton Police Department, stating that he had been robbed at gunpoint in downtown Shelton. Despite being attacked by three suspects, the victim managed to fight them off and obtain the license plate number of the vehicle they were using.
The vehicle information was shared with other law enforcement agencies, leading the Bridgeport Police Department Auto Theft Task Force to locate the vehicle in Bridgeport. The vehicle was stopped, and its occupants, identified as Langston and Bolton, were apprehended. The victim positively identified them as two of the individuals involved in the robbery.
Both Bolton and Langston were held on a $100,000 bond and were scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on 11/28/2023. The investigation is still ongoing, with additional arrests expected.
