On September 10th at 9:20PM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received multiple calls regarding several gunshots in the area of Strawberry Hill Ave and Catalpa Street. Officers responded to the area and located a crime scene. At the same time, it was learned that one victim had arrived at Norwalk Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and is in serious condition. Detectives assumed the investigation and were able to determine that this was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to the community. Detectives will be active in the area throughout the day continuing the investigation.

UPDATE: The victim passed in the hospital, making this yet another homicide. From BPT Police: On September 11, 2024, at approximately 5:45 pm Bridgeport Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and reports of a party shot within the 100 block of Spring Street. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying in the street suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital where he passed away a short time later. Patrol Officers secured the crime scene and notified the Detective Bureau (DB). The DB Homicide Squad is responding along with the Forensic Identification Unit. The Detective Bureau is currently in the process of canvassing the area and identifying potential witnesses. Spring Street is closed between East Main Street and Kossuth Street. No further information at this time.
Police are investigating a shooting which occurred at the 200 block of Spring Street in Bridgeport. There is a report that one is shot and was transferred to the hospital. There are no further details at this time.
(Westport, CT) At approximately 3:19 pm, Westport Police responded to the area of 86 Old Hill Road on the report of a serious motor vehicle accident. The Westport Police Accident Investigation Team is conducting the investigation and have closed Old Hill Road between Partrick Road and Broadview Road. Please avoid the area if possible. More information will be released as it becomes available.
Always a multi-faceted popular event, The Derby-Shelton Rotary announces the annual Shelton Day festival will be held on Sunday, October 6th from 11-5. Bridgeport Police Department Advise Residents of Traffic Delays and Parking Information
Bridgeport, CT –Mayor Ganim and the Bridgeport Police Department are advising residents and visitors of heavy traffic that is expected in the City’s Downtown and South End for the “Soundside Music Festival” which will be held at Seaside Park September 28th-29th. Residents who live near Seaside Park and the festivals access points are encouraged to plan accordingly. The City asks our community to be patient and understand that these traffic delays may occur along Iranistan Ave, South Ave, Barnum Dyke, and other areas for this historic event.
The music festival takes place on Saturday, September 28th and Sunday, September 29th. However, please note that the following detours and closures will take place starting Friday, September 27th and will end Sunday, September 29th. All detours, closures, and no-parking areas are subject to change:

Park Ave will be open for local traffic from Railroad Ave to Perry Memorial Archway; traffic will be regulated but expect delays
Lafayette Street from Railroad Ave to Gregory St
Cole St (entrance on Iranistan Ave)
Alsace St (entrance on South Ave)

South Ave from Iranistan Ave to Barnum Dyke on both sides
Iranistan Ave from South Ave (south) to Atlantic Street on both sides

Road Closures
Main St and Broad St will be closed to all traffic from Total Mortgage Arena to Soundview Drive. Soundview Drive from the P.T. Barnum Statue to the Casino Bath House will be closed and open only for emergency access from September 16th to October 3rd.
West Beach will remain open to residents.
Festival visitors who intend to travel in the Downtown area should plan extra time for parking and transport. To avoid congested areas of traffic, visitors are encouraged to arrive early, carpool, ride the Metro-North Railroad New Haven line, or the Port Jefferson Ferry.
Uber and Rideshare drop-offs will only be at Total Mortgage Arena. Bridgeport Police Officers will be redirecting Uber and Rideshare drop-offs to this location if passengers are brought elsewhere for the festival.

Firefighters are on the scene at Whitewood Drive for a structure fire. Heavy fire is reportedly coming from the rear of the structure. Mutual aid from surrounding towns requested for tanker trucks to haul water to the scene.
