Fatal Crash on Route 8 Under Investigation

Trumbull, CT – On October 11, 2024, at approximately 11:07 AM, Connecticut State Police from Troop G responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on Route 8 Southbound near Exit 7 in Trumbull.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle, driven by Leonel Diaz, veered off the roadway into the grassy shoulder and collided with a rock wall for unknown reasons. Mr. Diaz was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center by Trumbull EMS with serious injuries.

A passenger in the vehicle, Maria Nieves, suffered life-threatening injuries and was also transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.

The Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Squad is assisting in the investigation, which remains ongoing. TRAIN SLIDE PRESENTATION SET FOR STRATFORD LIBRARY

The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford, will present “Rails To Industry”, an historical lecture/slide presentation on Tuesday, October 15 at 7 pm.  The program is free and open to the public.

Local historian Sue DelBianco will discuss the railroad line that ran from Bridgeport to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which was called The Housatonic Railroad. DelBianco will offer a slide presentation showing captivating images of how the railroad aided in bringing industry alive in Fairfield County and what became of the railroad today.

Sue DelBianco is a historian and author who was born in Bridgeport and grew up in the town of Trumbull.  She graduated from Trumbull High School in 1977 and attended Sacred Heart University where, in 2020, she obtained her B.A. in History.  DelBianco conducts numerous slide presentations and historical tours year-round which involve railroad history and all that grew around the railroads in the Fairfield County area.  She currently resides in Stratford.

Ansonia Man Arrested Following Investigation into 2023 Overdose Death

On October 9. 2024, the Ansonia Police Department arrested Michael Dupre, age 50, of Ansonia after an overdose death investigation. During the investigation by Detective Jon Troesser, he was able to link Dupre to the sale of narcotics to the 24 year old female victim who overdosed in October of 2023. Michael Dupre was charged with Misrepresentation of a Controlled Substance and Sale of Narcotics. He is being held on a $150,000 bond and was presented today, 10/10/2024, at Derby Superior Court for arraignment.

Milford Police Arrest Stamford Man in Knife-Point Robbery at Lynn Spa

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 10:25am, Milford Police responded to Lynn Spa regarding a robbery at knife point. The victim reported that a customer pulled a knife on her demanding the employee’s phone, money, and clothing. The Detective Bureau responded and assumed the investigation.
Investigation led to the arrest of Terrell Meynard, 42, of Stamford who is accused of robbing the female victim, taking her phone and money. Meynard was later located and taken into custody around 10:26pm. He was charged with Robbery 1st and Larceny 5th. He was held on a $500,000 bond and transported to Milford Court on October 7, 2024.

Greenfield Animal Hospital Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for New Facility

Greenfield Animal Hospital celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new, state-of-the-art facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by staff, community members, and local leaders. Dr. Andrew Marsh, owner of Greenfield Animal Hospital and son of the practice’s founder, Dr. Thomas Marsh, led the celebration, honoring over four decades of veterinary care in the Greenfield Hill community.

The new facility, located at 40 Hillside Road, marks a significant milestone for the multigenerational family business, which has been serving the local community since 1980. Dr. Marsh expressed his excitement, saying, “We are thrilled to continue our tradition of compassionate care in this amazing new space. STRATFORD – The Town of Stratford and the Boothe Park Commission are happy to announce the 2024
Great Pumpkin Festival. Sponsored by Comcast, the event is scheduled for Saturday, October 19th from
12pm to 4pm. In the event of inclement weather, the event will take place on Sunday, October 20th from
12pm to 4pm. The popular festival will take place on Stratford’s historic Boothe Memorial Park at 5800
Main Street.
Attendees can look forward to circus acts, face painting, a costume parade and contest, a pumpkin
carving contest, an inflatable corn maze and more. The many historic and unique buildings on the
Boothe Park property will be open to the public. A variety of civic organizations, together with the
Boothe Park Commission, will be offering fall-themed treats. Cash and Venmo are accepted methods of
payment.
“The Pumpkin Festival is a fun tradition to celebrate the wonders of the fall season, and I look forward
to seeing neighbors and new friends at the festival every year,” said Mayor Laura R. Hoydick. “Come, be
reacquainted with our history and enjoy the charm and beauty of Boothe Park. I hope to see you
