Senator Tony Hwang’s List of Farmers Market

Easton

While the town doesn’t have an official farmers’ market, Easton is home to many terrific farms that offer a wide variety of fresh produce and other farm products. Please call ahead for hours and crop availability.

Fairfield

  • Greenfield Hill Farmers’ Market, Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market is located at 75 Hillside Road and runs till the end of October.

Newtown

  • The Farmers’ Market at Fairfield Hills, Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The market is located at the Fairfield Hills Campus next to the Municipal Center, at 3 Primrose St.Check out the market’s Facebook page

Weston

The farmers’ market is not open this year, but there are a couple of alternatives in and around town, including:

  • Georgetown Farmers’ Market, Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located at 4 Old Mill Road and runs till Oct. 25.
  • Viv’s Veggies from Vivian Simons’ Chestnut Farm, 227 Lyons Plains Road. “If the farm signs are out, I’m open,” she tells The Weston Forum

Westport

  • Westport Farmers’ Market, Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market is located at 50 Imperial Avenue and runs till Nov. 5. More info atwww.westportfarmersmarket.com

Norwalk News: Shooting

UPDATE: One male, one female shot on Washington Street.  A second woman was grazed by a bullet in the hand.  Police dispatched cars to Norwalk Hospital to secure the emergency room waiting room where the victims were transported.

9:50pm–#Norwalk CT–Police are looking for a red Volkswagen Jetta wanted in a shooting in South Norwalk.

Water Rescue At Chubby’s

1:34am–#Bridgeport CT–#Fairfield CT–#BlackRock–Both firefighters and police from both Fairfield and Bridgeport are searching for a person possibly in the water behind Chubby’s at 3488 Fairfield Avenue on the Fairfield/Bridgeport line.  Witnesses said two men went to the back of the pub to fight and only one came out and they feared one of them fell back into Ash Creek.  Firefighters are using thermal cameras and are operating in a small boat but so far have found nothing.

Bridgeport News: Ganim Asks For State Police Help From Governor

#Bridgeport CT—Video Report: Today, mayoral hopeful Joe Ganim has written a letter asking Governor Dannel Malloy for help in providing state police officers to supplement city police officers following an increase in gun violence.  Ganim is concerned that the city of Bridgeport Police’s staffing level is at a low while it will take another eighteen months to bring staffing levels back up to full force.

 

Devon Rotary Awards over $20,000 in Scholarships

#MILFORD, CT – The Devon Rotary Club held its annual Scholarship Awards breakfast on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at The Bridge House Restaurant.  Fifteen (15) exceptional Milford students received the awards.

 

13 Scholarships are awarded by the Devon Rotary Trust Foundation each year totaling over $20,000.  They are given to students in recognition of academic interest and achievement, and also for their service to their school or the community at large.  The winners are selected by a committee of members from the Devon Rotary Foundation.

 

Mark McCormack and Mark Weston received the Excello Tools of the Trade Awards Scholarship. Jeremy Doucette and Aubrey Bepko received the William Duncan Devon Rotary Knights Scholarship. Haley Palmer received the Steven G Memorial Scholarship. Marissa Prizio received the Orange Ale House Duke Scholarship.  Sofya Calvin received the Bridge House Foundation Scholarship.  Shaina Arsenault received the Robert Boughton Memorial Scholarship.  Mariah Provenzo received the Emma McDonough Memorial Scholarship.  Erin Jackson received the Bridge House Dodie Ireland Memorial Scholarship.  Emily Fetter received the Stanford Family Scholarship.  Michaela Smith received the Barbara Burwell Gaynor Memorial Award Scholarship.  Kelsey Kopazna received the John D. Gaynor Memorial Scholarship. Raven Grant received the Joyce G Memorial Scholarship. And Melissa Hanania received the Paul Austin Scholarship.
