Pembroke Variety Armed Robbery UPDATE
Two teens face charges in connection with an armed robbery of a Pembroke Street variety store.
Police Officer Wildred Torres got the call Tuesday. He responded to 582 Pembroke St. and learned that two teens held up the store. The owner was tracking the suspects via a GPS component on a cell phone, which was taken in the robbery.
The clerk at Pembroke Variety wasn’t injured but police using that technology were able to get a possible location of the suspects on East Main Street.
Torres and Officers Jose Luna and Joseph Szor checked the location and found the door ajar. The officers announced themselves and encountered a woman who said her brother and a friend were home also.
Police detained Jaques Henderson, 18, and Glenn Pettway, 19, both of Bridgeport. Police recovered a sawed off shotgun during a subsequent search and the two suspects were identified as the robbers. Two other people who were detained were not charged and were released.
The suspects were charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a sawed off shotgun, second-degree larceny and reckless endangerment. Their bonds were set at $100,000 each.
