4:37pm–#Bridgeport CT–A man was just robbed by two people he knows at Stratford and Central Avenue. He was roughed up and his $600 cellphone was taken. The two robbers fled on bicycles.

Two Felons Face Gun Charges
(Bridgeport, CT – May 8, 2013) – Two convicted felons face weapons charges after police recovered a police-style baton and a handgun in their vehicle.
Sergio Paul, 20, of Trumbull and Jawora McBean, 24, of Stamford, were pulled over for a motor vehicle violation by Officers Donald Matejek and Thomas Flaherty Tuesday in the area of Pine Street. Paul didn’t have a license. McBean continually kept reaching into his pockets, despite instructions not to. Then police noticed an expandable baton on the front seat.
Both man were removed from the vehicle and, as police prepared it to be towed, found a .22 caliber loaded handgun. Police also recovered narcotics.
The men were charged with two counts of weapon in a motor vehicle, theft of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and narcotics violations.
Fire alarms at the Trumbull Mall
#Trumbull CT–We don’t normally report on activated fire alarms because they are usually false. That appeared to be the case tonight at the Trumbull Mall around midnight. At 1:09am the firefighters are on their way there again. They also responded to a false alarm at Trumbull High School around 11pm.
Bridgeport Road Paving
The City’s Downtown Road Improvement Project, which began on April 15, is scheduled to be completed by the end of this week, weather permitting.
Paving of North Frontage Road, from Main to Lafayette Blvd., and Lafayette Boulevard from North Frontage Road to John Street is complete.
If weather permits, John Street paving will continue on Friday, May 10. Drivers can expect temporary road closures on John Street as well as temporary detours at the following intersections:
- John Street and Lafayette Boulevard
- John and Broad
- John and Main
- John and Middle, and
- John and Water streets.
The majority (80%) of this road improvement project, projected to cost $1.4 million, will be paid through Federal funds from the STP Urban Program. The City share for the project is 20%.
Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Subway Robber
(Bridgeport, CT – May 8, 2013) — At approximately 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, a gunman held up the Subway restaurant located at 2835 Fairfield Ave. The robber was described as a black male who was armed with a large silver revolver.
The male walked into the Subway wearing a black mask covering his face and during the robbery he took his mask off and the video was able to capture clear images. Approximately 45 minutes later, Milford police reported a robbery in their town at 186 Bridgeport Ave. in that city’s Devon section. The suspect fit the same description.
Bridgeport Police Detective Michael Fiumidinisi met with Milford detectives and reviewed their video, and police were able to determine that the suspect was the same, although his face was covered.
A witness gave them a vehicle description of a 1996-2000 White Acura Cl with blue LED headlights.

Donation bin theft
10:33pm–#Fairfield CT–A caller reporting to police that a older man in a silver SUV is taking items out of a donation bin near the bowling alley on Kings Highway. The SUV has left the scene according to the caller. Police on the way.
Reports of a alligator turns out to be a toy
5:40pm–#Bridgeport CT–Greater Bridgeport Transit called Bridgeport Police of an alligator in the street outside the bus station on Water Street. Police and I rushed to the scene. Police had trouble locating the gator but found out it was a passenger on the Port Jefferson Ferry with a three foot plastic alligator. I couldn’t resist telling the officers as I left the scene “in a while crocodile!”
Metal explosion in Stratford
2:55PM–#Stratford CT– A vat of metal has exploded at 915 Honeyspot Road causing heavy smoke in Stratford.
