Stratford News: Gun Arrest

#Stratford Connecticut–Jaqhan Potts age 21 of Bridgeport was arrested in Stratford on June 27 th for Carrying a Handgun without a Permit and Illegal Transfer of a Firearm. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a drive by shooting in March of this year. Based on observation and information developed during the investigation officers identified Potts as an associate of the victim of the drive by. When officers saw Potts walking on Larkin Court they stopped to speak with him. At this time one of the officers saw the handgun partially sticking out of Potts’ pocket. The weapon was seized and the arrest was made. At this time the investigation into the March shooting continues. Potts was held on a $50,000 dollar bond.

Stratford News: Bank Robbery-Arrest

On 07-13- 2016 Scott Taylor age 46 of Wethersfield was arrested at the Stratford Train Station following a bank robbery at the CHASE BANK located at 2855 Main Street.   Taylor entered the bank, indicated that he was armed and demanded money. He fled the scene with approximately $1000 dollars. Officers immediately began to search the area and Taylor was located at the Stratford Train Station where he was taken into custody. The money was recovered and no weapon was found.

 

12:12pm–#Stratford Connecticut–The Chase Bank at 2855 Main Street was robbed.  A white male in his 30’s, about 5 feet tall wearing a beige baseball cap backwards and a beige backpack said he wanted $10,000 and he had a gun although no gun was show.  About an half hour later police say they have recovered the clothing and money.

WTNH Meterologist Arrest On Child Porn Charges

On July 13, 2016 detectives from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and the Hamden Police Department served a Search and Seizure Warrant at 1521 Aspen Glen Dr., Hamden.
The search warrant was part of an on-going investigation into the possession of child pornography. State Police detectives initiated the investigation in June 2016 after video files of suspected child pornography were downloaded from the Internet account assigned to Justin Goldstein.
Computers and computer-related equipment were seized from Goldstein’s residence during the search. The seized items were examined on-scene, and files of suspected child pornography were located.
Goldstein was later located at his place of employment (WTNH) and taken into custody. Goldstein was transported to Troop I-Bethany where he was fingerprinted, photographed and was released after posting bond pending his court date.

Charges:
Illegal Possession of Child Pornography       Promoting a Minor in Obscene Performance

Court:  Meriden Superior Court            July 26, 2016          Bond:  $200,000.00

Today’s Vehicle Fire

UPDATE: There were two on the boat, one was burned.  That explains him jumping into the water.  He was able to put the fire out with a dry chemical extinguisher.

5:30pm–#Stratford Connecticut–Today’s vehicle fire is a boat located under the Devon Bridge.  The fire was in the engine compartment and now out (the red and white boat in the picture).  Other boaters were quick to assist.

BLUEFISH TO HOLD OPEN PLAYER TRYOUT

#Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Bluefish  announced that an open tryout for the team will be held at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday, August 8th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a live on field scrimmage following the tryout.

 

“This is a great opportunity for current free agents and players who were not selected in the Major League draft to come to the ballpark and show off their skills in hopes to play in the Atlantic League,” said Bluefish Senior Director of Baseball Operations & Public Relations, Paul Herrmann. “We’re looking forward to hopefully finding players from the tryout to invite to join our roster. Joseph Kuzia was a participant of our first tryout in April and made our roster this season. We are hoping to mirror that success.”

 

There will be an administration fee of $85 to tryout, with select participants (elected by the coaches) having the great experience of being able to participate in a live game on the field at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard following the tryout.

 

Position players are to report to The Ballpark at Harbor Yard at 9:30 am for registration, while pitchers report at 11:00 amfor registration. Participants must be at least eighteen years of age. All participants must wear proper baseball attire to be eligible to tryout. All those present should provide their career statistics and must supply their own wooden bats and baseball gloves. All participants will be required to sign a release form before trying out for the team.

 

Coaches and representatives from the Bluefish will be on hand to evaluate the players at the ballpark, including Manager Luis Rodriguez and Pitching Coach Jesse Litsch.

 

The Pro-Tryout Specifications will include:

 

-Warmups

-60 yard dash

-Pop Time (Catchers)

-Infielders/Outfielders – Defensive Drills

-Pitcher Warmup

-Position Players Hit in Cage, Pitchers light bullpen (pre-scrimmage)

-Scrimmages begin at 1:00 pm
