Could Facebook reveal which of your friends has an STD?

Imagine being able to download a Facebook app that would alert you to your sexually transmitted infection risk based on your friend’s status updates. This may sound far-fetched, and it still is, but as some researchers shift their focus to risk among friend groups, as opposed to just sexual partners, social networks are rapidly becoming a tool to prevent the spread of STIs.  Read full story…….

Carjacking In Fairfield…By A Dog

Just before 3pm Monday afternoon a woman parked on Oakwood Drive called police that a dog had jumped in her car, wouldn’t get out and was trying to bite her. She got out of her car and waited for Fairfield’s Animal Control Officer to remove the dog. If you notice the cars are similar in style and color so the dog Maggie might have thought it was her owner’s car the animal control officer told me. The dog’s owner who lives on Oakwood Drive said he was trying to leash the dog when she ran off to chase a squirrel. The owner has a bad hip so chasing the dog was pretty much out of the question. When warned by the animal control officer not to let the dog get away in the future he said not to worry, the dog has used up all his past goodwill. The dog was reunited with her owner and no charges were filed. All parties left the scene before I could any names or further information.

Arena-Bishop Honors Gary Hamill

Archbishop William Lori, the former Bishop of Bridgeport, visited Webster Bank Arena Saturday and dropped the puck at center ice. The Archbishop paid tribute to the late Gary Hammill, his former chauffeur and a former arena employee. A scholarship fund has been set up Kolbe-Cathedral High School in Bridgeport in Hammill’s name. Archbishop Lori was joined by Hammill’s wife, Joanne, and her sons Tim and Gary Jr.

In addition to working at the Arena, Gary also worked at Bluefish Stadium so it is no surprise so many would recognize Gary but didn’t know his name.  In addition Gary was the bishop’s driver.   Bishop Lori summed it up best when he told us ” Gary was involved in primarily neighbor to neighbor.  Gary was constantly doing good for others one by one.  But when you added it up it was a massive scale”.

By the way, the Sound Tigers won tonight 4-3.
