Update–Press release from Mayor’s Office:
Bridgeport Police received a call at 10:17 p.m. on July 6, for a report of assault with a weapon at 740 Iranistan Avenue. On arrival, police found one man suffering from a stab wound to the left side. He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Wayne Cooper, 35, of Iranistan Avenue was taken into custody and charged with assault in the first degree.
According to police, it is believed the two men are brothers and that the attack was an outgrowth of some sort of argument that happened earlier in the day.
The incident is still under investigation; there are no further details at this time.

Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred shortly after 10 this Wednesday night. Witnesses tell us that police were there earlier this evening (unconfirmed) for a verbal argument. Apparently things got out of hand and one man is behind bars and another at St. Vincent’s Hospital for a stabbing to his upper chest. Police say the victim was in and out of consciousness when paramedics took charge.
5:15pm–Bridgeport–Shots were fired into the air at Fairfield Avenue near the corner of Albion Street (near the I-95 on ramp) Police are looking for a charcoal Nissan Murano CT Plate 866 YJU (misused plates) with 2 black males and one Hispanic male. Police told us one of the black males had a hand gun, shot three rounds into the air and the three fled on I-95. A check of the surveillance tape at the did not help in the investigation. Bridgeport/Trumbull Line–Fire departments for both Bridgeport and Trumbull were kept busy today for reported odor of gas. They discovered that gas company officials are purging gas lines in the areas of Chopsey Hill Road, Old Town Road and Red Oak Road.
1:24am–Westport–Westport Police are reporting their third smash and grab robbery that just occurred at a gas station on Post Road East. No other details have been released at this time. UPDATE–The latest victim was the Phillps 66 Gas Station 485 Post Rd East. Fairfield PD are waking the owner now by going to his residence to let him know it happened.
11:20–Bridgeport–Fire department on scene for smoke 53 Funston Ave. for smoke in the building turns out to be food burning on the stove in the basement apartment. Pot removed from the burner, checking for any extensions.
10:25pm–Bridgeport–Police are on the scene at 740 Iranistan Avenue for a stabbing, victim is unconscious, police are investigating.
6:22pm–Bridgeport–Fire and EMTs are attending to a woman who collapsed in front of 25 Stewart Street.
2:44pm–Bridgeport–Report of smoke in the building at 491 Woodlawn Ave. Turns out to be an electrical issue near the refrigerator.
11:30am–Bridgeport–Report of an odor of gas in an apartment at 710 Trumbull Ave. Lots of fire apparatus on the way! UPDATE-Fire department confirms odor of propane and are investigating it’s source. UPDATE-Fire department requesting gas company to the scene.
12:40am–Bridgeport–Report of a dumpster fire at Shelton and Halette Street.
3:47pm–#Bridgeport–Medical emergency at City Hall at 45 Lyon’s Terrace for an unresponsive person in the Tax Collector’s Office. EMT’s radio saying seizure.

In Fairfield a car runs into a motorcyclist in front of Joe’s American Bar on the Post Road. The cyclist suffered only minor face scrapes and refused medical treatment at the scene.
In Bridgeport at the corner of Brewster Street and Fairfield Ave. witnesses tell us a pickup truck turned into this lucky cyclist. He suffered only minor scrapes on his arms and elbows. He wound up consoling the pickup truck driver that he was ok.
What appeared to be two shootings in the Hollow in Bridgeport tonight turned out to just be one that took place at 283
A three car accident, on both sides of the highway on I-95 near the rest areas (exit 21 area) sent six to area hospitals. No word on the conditions of the patients. Earlier tonight Fairfield Fire responded to the Merritt Parkway near the rest area when a large branch struck a car, fire department said there were no injuries.
