Multi Town Police Pursuit ends in Trumbull

A police chase originating in Shelton ended in Trumbull after the driver crashed his car near exit 6 in Trumbull and fled on foot into the woods. The pursuit happened some time around 4pm today. The driver started southbound on Route 8, exiting onto the Merritt Parkway southbound, then exiting to Route 25 southbound where he crashed. Police from Shelton, Trumbull Bridgeport and State Police were involved in the pursuit. Police searched the neighborhoods off Old Town Road. At this time it is not know what the driver was wanted for or if he was captured.

On July 16th, the Fairfield Fire Fighters Association, Local 1426 of the International
Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), will conduct their annual “Fill the Boot” campaign
for Muscular Dystrophy at Trader Joe’s in Fairfield 10 am to 4 pm. All proceeds raised will go
directly to the MDA.   The money raised by the IAFF is used for research and treatments
to prolong children’s lives. It is spent on braces and wheelchairs, on community health
centers, support groups, and summer camps. If you would like to help the Fairfield Fire Fighters Association with this

Peep-show pilot finds unusual landing strip

Emergency landing wasn't for an emergecy.

CARIGNAN, Que. — Transport Canada has launched an investigation to determine why a pilot landed his ultralight aircraft in the parking lot of a strip club in this town south of Montreal.  Local police say they received a 911 call from a witness who though he saw a plane crash at Le Rendez-Vous 10-35 bar on Saturday.  Read more…..

1:14am–Shots fired in Bridgeport –Fairfield near Orland Street Hispanic Female short medium build in her 30s wearing a white shirt.    She should be in a red Ford pickup possibly Maryland plates.  She is with a four year old boy   Last seen in the area of BJ’s on Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.  UPDATE–1:25am–#Bridgeport–Bridgepo​ rt Police confirm the woman they are looking in the red pick up for shots fired– they have the vehicle stopped near on Fairfield Ave. near the Fairfield line.

4:08pm-#Bridgeport–Report of a child struck by a car at Garden Street and Park Ave. I just came from that area and it is still packed with parade goers and lots of traffic.

10:57–Bridgeport–Report of an odor of natural gas at inside 400 Iranistan Ave.-Marina Village Apartments.  Lots of fire apparatus on the way!  Quickly recalled at 11:05 gas company requested to the scene.

Mugging in Fairfield—Shortly before 7pm Saturday a robbery occurred at Samp Mortar Road near Black Rock Turnpike.  A backpack skateboard, cellphone cash werre taken  by big white teen wearing a gray shirt and a smaller white male red hat.   No was weapon used,  they pushed the victim to the ground and took the items.  The assailants fled in a gray older model Honda.

3:35pm–#Bridgeport–Report of an odor of smoke at 576 Midland Street in Black Rock.  Homeowner thinks its coming from one of the electrical outlets. FD on scene.

12:00pm–#Fairfield–Another Oooops!  Elderly man crashes into guard rail at Splash Car Wash on Kings Highway Cutoff entering the wrong way.

11:43am–#Fairfield–Duchess on Black Rock Turnpike has been closed by the fire department.  Burnt food and broken ventilation system set off fire alarm and fire department responded and closed the restaurant until ventilation is restored and approved by the health department.

1:18pm–#Bridgeport–Fire department on the scene of a person down at the corner of Clinton and State Street.

12:03am–#Bridgeport–Laurel and Sherwood Ave.  Behind the firehouse/Curiale school there is a bleeding unresponsive “pediatric” (which could be a teen).  UPDATE–Fire department just replied they are not needed but the ambulance is.

5:35pm–Fairfield–If you have business at the Fairfield Animal Control at 1 Rod Road you may want to call them first.  They had a pipe burst in the ceiling and had to have the water to the building turned off.  It is unknown the impact this will have on the animals or business hours tomorrow.

Bridgeport/Trumbull Line–Fire departments for both Bridgeport and Trumbull were kept busy today for reported odor of gas.  They discovered that gas company officials are purging gas lines in the areas of Chopsey Hill Road, Old Town Road and Red Oak Road.

1:24am–Westport–Westport Police are reporting their third smash and grab robbery that just occurred at a gas station on Post Road East.   No other details have been released at this time.  UPDATE–The latest victim was the Phillps 66 Gas Station 485 Post Rd East.  Fairfield PD are waking the owner now by going to his residence to let him know it happened.

Fairfield Water Rescue Saves Elderly Man

Quick Action by Fairfield's Marine Unit Saves Elderly Man Thursday.

Shortly after 5:30pm Thursday an elderly man fell off a boat he was on and could not get back on board.  Within minutes Fairfield’s rescue boat was  on the scene and help him get back on board.     There were no physical problems or complications and he was able to continue his day on the water.

Oil Spill in Southport Harbor

The oil spill could have come from any number of boats at the Pequott Yacht Club

Shortly after 1pm Fairfield Fire Department responded to a call from a Harbor Road residence of a strong odor of oil and an oily slick in the water.  Fire officials working with information from residences downstream,  quickly determined the spill came from the Pequot Yacht Club at 669 Harbor Road.  Fire officials tell us the spill was minimal of about 1-2 gallons.  The Department of Environmental Protection handled the clean up.  It hasn’t been determined the exact cause for the spill.  ©2011
