Bridgeport News: Report Of A Naked Man Injured

UPDATE: Police spokesman called and said police are trying to sort the scene out.  They believe he may have been injured by the broken glass.  Residents of Charles Street are commenting that it was a naked man who had a chunk of glass sticking out of his arm.

12:37am–#Bridgeport CT– A man was shot in the 200 block of Charles Street.  Witnesses told me the victim was put into a black Pontiac Grand Prix and taken to nearby St. Vincent’s Hospital.  Radio reports said police found a large amount of blood on the sidewalk.  No shell casings have been recovered.  Police are trying to confirm if it was a shooting.  A large amount of broken glass was seen near the bloodied sidewalk.  Police continue to investigate.

I was not prevented in hearing or reporting on this call in any way.  A previous report from another news source reported that Bridgeport Police are preventing violent news from being reported until after election day.

No Crime News In Bridgeport? That’s News To Me

A recent article in the Connecticut Post reports that no crime news is to be reported in Bridgeport.  That is news to me.  They cite that police spokesman William Kaempffer’s daily news releases have ceased in the last few weeks.  I learned weeks ago that Bill was dealing with personal issues and was on leave.  I’ve learned this to be true first hand but cannot reveal details because I said I would keep it confidential.   I do know that a lot of the media today does not want to go out and get the news themselves, opting to cut and paste, maybe rewrite a press release and say it is their original reporting.  Have you notice that when I get a press release I publish I write that it is a press release?

No one has told me that I cannot report the news.  I don’t know if this is politically motivated but no one has told me not to report.  When Bridgeport Police went encrypted the local media was given the opportunity to purchase a modified Bridgeport Police that will allow us to receive the dispatch channel for reporting.  I don’t know who is responsible for allowing this to happen but they should be praised them for allowing the reporting to the public to continue.  Other cities do not allow the media to monitor and only tell the media what they want them to know.  That should be a public outcry for those towns for that is what a police state usually does, tell the public what they want to know.

I guess the issue is that the Bridgeport Police radio needs to be monitored and some work is involved to get a report.  Citizens of Bridgeport should be happy that their police department seeks transparency.   Every city council member I have talked to agrees.  Even the city council member who I had words with in the past agrees,  and we both work together now learning that our passion to to help the public is what it is all about.   That being said, no one has told me not to report crime in Bridgeport.
