Bridgeport Receives New Driver Simulator For Police and Firefighters

When a police officer leaves the academy they continue to get training on everything except police driving refresher courses, that is until now.  The city of Bridgeport has invested in a simulator that will help assist both the police and fire department drive emergency vehicles in number of conditions, from rain to snow, drivers ignoring lights and sirens and kids running in front of their vehicle.  Other instruction included teaching firefighters to not only watch the road but also read the horizon for smoke in the distance,

 

In the last ten years across the country 434 police officer have been killed automotive accidents.  In 2013 and 2014 the city of Bridgeport have received over $800,000 in motor vehicle related worker’s compensation claims.  The simulator will give Bridgeport Police and Firefighters on going hands on training.

Free Languages Classes Taught at the Fairfield Public Library

#Fairfield, CT–Learning a second language is not as difficult as many believe. The Fairfield Public Library has been offering refresher and intermediate Spanish classes on Saturdays at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road, for the past year.

These classes will continue this spring from 10:30 to noon in the Rotary Room In addition, on Saturday, January 16 the Main Library will be hosting Intro to Three Romance Language classes. Robert Foley, the instructor, believes that learning a second language can be fun and useful for travel. Wouldn’t it be fun to speak a little Italian, French and Spanish? Come to the intro classes which last 30 minutes each. Italian will be taught at 10:30 am, French at 11:00 am, and Spanish at 11:30 am. Now you can try all three and see the similarities and differences. At noon the class will adjourn for conversation at Café Europa. Mr. Foley has created a method for learning to speak a foreign language quickly and has been teaching for several years with positive results. Advanced registration is required due to the limited space. Trumbull Burglary Suspects Similar To Norwalk Suspects

#Norwalk CT–The Norwalk Department of Police Services Detective Bureau is investigating a burglary that occurred on January 11, 2016, at 12:29 a.m. at the Country Convenience Store located at 303 Newtown Avenue. Two male suspects, wearing hooded sweatshirts pulled up in front of the deli in a station wagon. The driver removed a large rock from the vehicle and threw it through the front glass door to the store. Both males then entered, stealing the cash register and multiple cartons of cigarettes before fleeing in the station wagon.  Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Bell at 203-854-3183 or JBell@norwalkct.org. Trumbull News: Mobil Station Break In

12:27am–#Trumbull CT– The Mobil Station at White Plains Road near Daniels Farm was broken into. Police are looking for a silver late 80’s Oldsmobile Sierra station wagon.  Responsible is a heavy set white male in a dark winter coat and a black male in a dark colored hoodie according to radio reports.
