5:49pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– In a matter of hours police are investigating a second serious crash on the East Side, this time on Seaview Avenue between Deacon and Holly Street. 3 people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Witnesses said the blue car sideswiped two utility poles prior to hitting the red car. It is thought the elderly driver may have had a medical episode. Police said speed was NOT a factor but like they said if both cars were traveling at 30mph and hit head on the impact would be significant.

Bridgeport Police Investigate Serious Crash Barnum and Pembroke Avenue
4:39pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut–Bridgeport Police observed a bluish car traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly on Arctic Street near East Main Street. Before the police could attempt pull the car over it hit an SUV flipping it over, the driver was ejected through the windshield and is in very serious condition. The crash happened at Pembroke and Barnum Avenue. Chief Perez said a third car was involved but received minor impact. The police fatal team and the was on scene investigating and the road was closed. At 8pm radio report said the roadway will be opened shortly.

Arbor Day Celebration – Tree Seedling Give-Away
#Westport Connecticut–The Westport Tree Board will celebrate Arbor Day with a Tree Seedling Give-Away on Friday, April 29 from 2-5 pm at the Lillian Wadsworth Arboretum located at 2 Woodside Lane. There will be a table set up near the corner of Stonybrook Road and Woodside Avenue. This is the third such celebration of tree seedling giveaways in Westport where the Tree Board and Westport’s Tree Warden, Bruce Lindsay will be handing out seedling trees consisting of:
200 Flowering Dogwood 100 Norway Spruce 100 River Birch
The seedlings will come with planting instructions for school-age children and residents of Westport on a first-come, first-serve basis. The tree seedling give-away has been made possible through the generous donation of Eversource Energy in recognition of National Arbor Day. According to Lindsay, “The Tree Board and I are looking to get Westport’s citizens the chance to see a working Arboretum and appreciate the value of planting a young tree in the community.”

6:12pm–#Fairfield Connecticut–A fire that was believed to have started in the garage area at 145 Mountain Laurel Drive spread to the attic. The homeowners, their children and rabbit were able to escape without harm. No firefighters were injured in battling the fire. Firefighters from Westport and Bridgeport provided mutual aid. The fire marshal was called in to investigate the cause.
