MakeIT! at the Fairfield Public Library

#Fairfield, CT– Join the Maker Movement at the Fairfield Public Library. Come and participate in an introduction to making. The first session will be held in the Computer Lab on Saturday, October 29 at 10 am to 12 noon. The second session will be help on Saturday, November 5 at 10 am to 12 noon. Twenty-first century public libraries provide access to materials, space and now more than ever – learning opportunities for the community. People can enjoy storytimes and lectures as well as more hands-on classes and experiences. The Fairfield Public Library offers sewing and knitting programs at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library. At the Main Library people can try their hand at basic electronics building and coding with an Arduino. This is a wonderful opportunity to use technology to develop a device that can work for you.

We invite twelve pairs of a teen and an adult to participate in this new program. Come and join Fairfield resident Billy Shaw and his son, Dylan. Billy and Dylan are a dynamic father and son duo who have been making together for the last several years. Billy is an IT professional living in Fairfield who is a founder of the Fairfield County Makers Guild (FCMG). . His first project was to take apart a VCR to see what made it tick. He quickly learned that being able to put it back together and understand the principles behind the circuitry and electronics was key to that… and so the journey began. Billy has been working and making ever since and is still learning today. Dylan, a freshman and Fairfield Ludlowe High School has been working with 3D printers, CNC milling machines, raspberry pi's and Arduino micro controllers at home and at the FCMG makerspace in Norwalk. Together they are continually trying to find new ways to use and share technology in interesting and innovative ways.

Advanced registration is required due to the limited space. All programs at the Fairfield Public Library are free of charge.
