Westport News: Employee Writes Himself Fraudulent Paychecks

#Westport CT–On May 1, 2017, the victim of this incident came to the Westport Police Department to file a fraud complaint. The victim stated his employee, Michael McCrorken, wrote fraudulent paychecks to himself from the business. The victim owns the company A Dash of Salt which is a catering company located at 971 Post Road East. The victim discovered digital copies of checks made out to McCrorken from his business which he did not authorize. All of the signatures on the checks made out to McCrorken were not the owner’s signature. Officer Taylor Field worked closely with the victim and Webster Bank and determined that 37 fraudulent checks were created and signed by McCrorken which totaled over $23,000.00. Officer Field submitted an arrest warrant to Norwalk Court for the arrest of McCrorken. On August 29, 2017, Westport Officers responded to the Adult Probation Office in Norwalk and took custody of McCrorken who had an appointment that day. McCrorken was transported to Westport Police Headquarters where he was processed for the Larceny and Forgery charges. He was held on a $25,000 bond.

Fairfield News: Traffic Stop Nets Drugs

#Fairfield CT–On 09/07/2017 at 1:27 pm Fairfield officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Commerce Drive near Coolidge Street for a misuse of a registration plate. During the routine traffic stop for motor vehicle charges, K-9 Jagger conducted an air scent on the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor on the driver door seam. A subsequent search of the interior resulted in K-9 Jagger alerting that there were narcotics inside the vehicle. Officers seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana and ecstasy from the driver and a small amount of marijuana from the passenger.

 
The driver, Freddie M. Jackson, DOB: 04/24/1986 of Washington Avenue Bridgeport, was arrested for possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and several motor vehicle charges. The passenger, Vincent Ambrose Derr, DOB: 07/27/1987 of Iranistan Avenue Bridgeport, was issued a citation for possession of marijuana. Both were released at the scene.

Bridgeport News: Possible Fatal Crash

Bridgeport Police Update:  At 11:24 pm, Bridgeport Police were dispatched to 320 Dewey Street for a one car collision versus a utility pole. The twenty-six-year male operator was driving a 2002 Honda Accord north on Dewey Street when he veered right into a United Illuminating pole snapping the pole in half where a transformer fell into a nearby commercial lot. He was transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital. A forty-three-year female was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and reported in stable condition.

Rear seat passenger, sixty-one-year-old male, transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 02:41. He suffered severe head trauma and traumatic cardiac arrest.

The collision occurred across from Mountain Grove Cemetery.  It appears the driver of the vehicle was operating the car too fast and had fallen asleep at the wheel.

 

11:38pm–#Bridgeport CT– One person was seriously injured and another person possibly killed in a one car crash into a utility pole on Dewey Street near Mountain Grove Street.  Avoid the area, I’m sure the area will be closed for the investigation for an extended period of time.
