Fairfield News: Bicyclist Hit, Grass Fire

6:00pm–#Fairfield CT– Firefighters remain busy in Fairfield with simultaneous calls.  First a call for a bicyclist who was struck by a car in front of Woodfield Village at 1895 Stratfield Road.  Just as they arrived on scene another call for a grass fire near a shed at 440 McKinley Avenue.

Fairfield News: Firefighters Remain Busy

1:33pm–#Fairfield CT– After battling a large house fire last night on the Old Post Road, firefighters were called to a motorcycle accident on the Merritt Parkway.  Then they received a call for a gas inside on Pequot Avenue and a fire alarm at Mill Hill School. As I’m writing this they were just dispatched to a call of a car into the guardrail and possibly into a utility pole on the North Benson off ramp, now reports a box truck hitting an SUV.

Fairfield News: Crash Involving a Motorcycle On The Merritt Parkway

UPDATE: The motorcyclist is up and walking according to radio reports.

 

1:01pm–#Fairfield CT #cttraffic– Motorcyclist down on the Merritt Parkway southbound between exits 44 and 42.  No word on the extent of injuries.  First responders on the way.  Expect heavy delays if traveling, detour if you can.

Fairfield News: One Person Jumps From Burning Historic Home

#Fairfield CT– Around 1:30 Saturday morning Fairfield Emergency Communications began receiving calls for a fire in the rear porch at the historic 480 Old Post Road. When firefighters arrived they confirmed that there was heavy fire in the back of the building. The fire quickly spread throughout the large structure. Everyone reportedly made it out of the home but one person did jump from a second story window and was taken to the hospital by EMS. Firefighters made entry through the front doors. Heavy fire could be seen from the left side of the building. It took firefighters about a half hour to bring the fire under control. Mutual aid from surrounding towns was called in to help battle the fire and to provide coverage to the empty fire stations in Fairfield. There were no reported injuries. The fire marshal will investigate to determine the cause of the blaze.

 

Bridgeport News: Man Shot In The Neck

11:01pm–#Bridgeport CT–Police received a call that a white Mercedes was traveling down State Street while a person who was shot in the neck. A woman thought to be the driver told police the man was shot in the 500 block of Ellsworth Avenue. The woman apparently attempted to drive the man to the hospital but decided to pull over in front of the former Connecticut Post building at 410 State Street. Police quickly located the car and EMS were there quickly and transported the man to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time. Police located a crime scene in a parking lot behind the Burroughs Community Center on Ellsworth Street near Martin Terrace.
