Bridgeport News: 2 In Custody After Manhunt

9:44pm–#Bridgeport CT– Suspects are in custody after a pursuit and manhunt in the Burnsford Road area.  Earlier there were reports of shots fired on Aldine Avenue (off Brooklawn Avenue) shot at a car with a person inside who called the police.  The car was a red SUV stolen out of Stamford according to radio reports.  A short time later there was a report of a woman being robbed on Hazelwood Avenue, this MAY be related but it has not been confirmed.  An alert officer on patrol located the car on Park Avenue where a pursuit ensued.  The officer lost the vehicle but other police cars located the car and the pursuit went in and out of side roads off Park Avenue, the pursuit remained for the most part on Park Avenue heading towards the university. The SUV then turned on Burnsford Avenue when it hit a utility pole near Wayne Street where the suspects fled on foot.   Police with K-9 from Bridgeport and Fairfield apprehended the suspects after a manhunt.

 

Bridgeport News: Woman Robbed At Gunpoint

9:09pm–#Bridgeport CT– A woman was robbed at gunpoint walking home from work at Hazelwood near Clinton Avenue.

Bridgeport News: Shots Fired By Teens On Bikes

UPDATE: Police are investigating two bullet holes in an Acura on State and Norman street.

 

 

6:11pm–#Bridgeport CT– Multiple reports of shots fired on Fairfield Avenue near Yale Street by teens on bicycles.  The are now reported to be on Norman Street.  So far no one or anything reported hit.  A state marashal had also witnessed them shooting.

Jobs Coach Returns To Westport

#Westport, CT – Elaine Daignault, Director of the Department of Human Services announces the return of the American Job Center Southwest’s (formerly known as CTWorks) Career Coach at Westport Town Hall.  On Thursday, October 12, the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft Excel 2013 from 10 a.m. – noon, followed by an intermediate class in Excel 2013 from 1 – 3 p.m.  The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.  The mobile unit operates on a monthly schedule of visits to various community locations and is accessible to people with disabilities.

 

Area residents interested in registering should contact the Westport Department of Human Services at 203-341-1050 or via e-mail at humansrv@westportct.gov.   For more information, including the current Career Coach schedule, check the website for American Job Center Southwest at http://www.ajcswct.com.

Ms. Daignault stated, “I hope that by offering the American Job Center Southwest’s Career Coach in the Westport area, many residents who wish to improve their computer skills will find it convenient and useful in pursuing their personal goals.”

Bridgeport News: Store Robbed At Gunpoint

8:50pm–#Bridgeport CT– The Junco’s at 1043 Arctic Street was just robbed at gunpoint by two males about 16-17 years of age.  Two young children were in the store at the time they and locked themselves into a back room until police arrived according to radio reports.

Fairfield News: Car Hits Trader Joe’s Wall

2:39pm–#Fairfield CT– Mums the word on the elderly man’s name who backed into a wall in front of Trader Joe’s on Black Rock Turnpike knocking over their display of mums.  The man was not injured but embarrassed over the incident.  He was backing up from his usual parking spot when he may have confused the gas for the brake.  The building was not hit.
