12:50am–#State police have one in custody after a short pursuit from Railroad to Iranistan Avenue. They were able to box the car in according to radio reports.

STRATFORD – The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been
awarded to the Town of Stratford by Government Finance Officers Association of the United
States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The
Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government
accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents significant accomplishment by
a government and its management.
“I am very pleased to see the work our administration has put forward in financial reporting
receive recognition from the GFOA,” said Mayor Laura Hoydick. “Accuracy and transparency
in town finances is an essential element to good government. I especially want to congratulate
Jay Wahlberg, our town’s Finance Director, and his great team for the work they did to earn this
recognition.”
The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the highest standards of the program,
which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its
financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

UPDATE: State Police accident report says a car operated by Hongying Tian of Avon, CT was traveling at a high rate of speed when she struck a vehicle operated by Ambroos Pilla of New York, New York. Tian’s car traveled into the median, breached the metal guide rail and struck a large tree, then traveled across both lanes of Route 15 into the grassy shoulder and came to a rest against several trees and brush. The police report said Pilla’s car suffered minor damage no was he injured. Tian was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Norwalk EMS where she was pronounced dead. State police are asking that if anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact Trooper Holmes at 203-696-2500.
9:57pm–#Norwalk CT– A crash on the Merritt Parkway southbound near exit 40B with one car reported on fire. One person reported ejected from the car.

#Bridgeport CT– Demolition began on the Wakeman’s Boys and Girl Club located at 555 Madison Avenue today. This was a long time in coming said Mayor Ganim. City Council Member Jeanette Herron said City council member Tom McCarthy began the push for a new club for over fourteen years and Jeanette has been pushing for over twelve years. A fire tore through the club in February of this year. Mayor Ganim credited state representative Steven Stafstrom with maintaining the money earmarked for this project from being cut by the state. Wakeman’s Boys and Girls Club Board of Trustees Jack Collins said he expects the new club’s ribbon cutting sometime in the end of 2019.
