#Westport CT–On 07/03/2018, officers were dispatched to a store on a report of a larceny. Employees reported a male had stolen 12 pairs of eyeglass frames, valued at over $6,000. Images of the suspect were obtained from store surveillance. On 07/11/2018, the images were posted on the Westport Police Department social media pages asking the public to assist in identifying the suspect. Investigators later received a phone call identifying the suspect as Jorge Velez of Bridgeport, CT. Velez’s license photo was compared to the suspect pictured in store surveillance and was determined to be the same person. An arrest warrant application was submitted and later approved. On 02/19/2019, the New Haven Police Department contacted Westport PD and advised Velez was being detained on the active warrant. Westport officers traveled to New Haven where Velez was arrested and brought back to Westport Police headquarters. There, Velez was charged with 53a-124 Larceny 3 rd and held in lieu of $30,000 bond. 10:44pm–#Bridgeport CT– How about some likes for Bridgeport’s Anit-Crime Division who caught a burglar with the goods? The Big Flooring Supplies at 1812 Main Street (across from VIP Car Wash) was being burglarized. The suspect was caught by the police in the 400 block of Grand Street with the merchandise. Somehow a wheel barrel was used in the commission of the crime which was being returned to the store by police.

3:13pm – #Fairfield CT – Los bomberos están en la escena en el centro de salud y rehabilitación de Cambridge en la 2428 de Easton Turnpike para un problema de humo en el segundo piso en el Chelsea Wing . Se cree que la unidad de calefacción es la causa.
4:15pm–#Fairfield CT– Firefighters were called to a house fire at 1346 Stratfield Road Saturday afternoon. They were met with heavy fire in the back, the right side of the building and the flames were starting to catch the shed in the back and a neighboring home. Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola praised his firefighters with quickly containing the flames and the rescuing three dogs in the home. He said with help from EMS from American Medical Response (AMR) the dogs trapped inside probably won’t have any ill effects from the smoke. Two residents in the home told me that the fire started from the outside of the home and then entered the home. Within the hour firefighters had the fire under control including the stubborn hot spots. The fire marshal was called to investigate the cause.

Encontraron fuego pesado en la parte de atrás, el lado derecho de la casa y las llamas estaban empezando a coger el cobertizo en la parte de atrás y una casa vecina. El jefe Asistente de bomberos, George Gomola, alabó a sus bomberos con la rápida contención de las llamas y el rescate de tres perros en el hogar. 1:03pm–#Bridgeport CT–Charred mylar balloons are thought to be the culprit in a power outage that causes high power lines to break off the utility pole and onto the canopy of the Valero Gas Station at 406 Huntington Turnpike this afternoon. Firefighters responded to a fire at the gas pumps. When the firefighters arrived they found a downed high voltage line arching by the gas pump. Firefighters used a dry chemical extinguisher and established a perimeter. United Illuminating was requested to the scene as an emergency response. They were on scene with fifteen minutes where they secured the power, restrung the line and restored power to the area.

Los bomberos respondieron a un incendio en las bombas de gas. Cuando llegaron los bomberos encontraron una línea de alta electricidad en el suelo alrededor de la bomba de gas. Los bomberos usaron un extinguidor químico seco y establecieron un perímetro. El Iluminador Unido fue llamado a la escena como respuesta de emergencia. Estaban en la escena en quince minutos donde aseguraron el cable, cordaje la línea y restableció la energía a la zona.
