Stratford News: Clean Up In Produce!

POLICE UPDATE: On 10-16-2019 at approximately 1156 am the Stratford Police Department responded to Big Y supermarket on Hawley Lane to investigate a car that struck the building. Upon
arrival Officers found that a car drove through the front bay door and struck a customer. The injured customer was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
The incident is still under investigation.

 

2019-10-16@11:55am #Stratford CT– A car entered the Big Y at Hawley Lane this afternoon.  Radio reports said there was no structural damage as the car entered an open door.  The driver and passenger was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.  Special thanks to Jeff Penkoff for the photo!

 

Westport News: Worker Hit

2019-10-15@9:13pm–Westport, CT in a report we were first to tell you, officers responded to the area of 333 Post Road West on a report of a motor vehicle accident with serious injuries. The initial report was that the nature of the accident was vehicle versus pedestrian. Emergency responders located and rendered aid to a male victim that had been struck by a passing vehicle near an active work zone. The victim was preliminary identified as a worker associated with the on-going construction project consisting of the re-paving of Post Road West and a stretch of Post Road East. The victim sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was ultimately transported to Norwalk Hospital for further treatment.

 

Members of the Westport Police Department’s detective bureau and accident investigation team responded to the scene to conduct the investigation into the incident. Representatives from the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) also responded to the accident scene and are conducting an inquiry into the matter. This necessitated a closure of Post Road West in both directions of travel from the time of the incident until approximately 4:30am on Wednesday October 16, 2019, at which time the roadway was fully re-opened to all traffic.

 

The operator of the vehicle had been traveling eastbound on Post Road West at the time of the collision. The operator remained at the scene to speak with responding officers and is fully cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been made in connection with the accident which currently remains under active investigation by this department.

Town Of Fairfield Leaf Collection

The Town of Fairfield will be providing four weeks of leaf collection to residents this fall.

Since there is no specific pickup day for a particular street or neighborhood, bags must be curbside by 6:00 am Monday to assure pickup during that week.

The collection weeks are:

  • Week 1 – November 4
  • Week 2 – November 11
  • Week 3 – November 18
  • Week 4 – December 2

Please note that there is no collection Thanksgiving week.

Stratford News: Burglary Arrest

2019-10-15 #Stratford CT– #Fairfield CT– In a report I was first to report here is the press release and mugshot from Stratford Police:

On 10-15-2019 Stratford Police Officers investigated a commercial burglary at the CITGO Gas Station located at 805 Main Street. The burglary occurred at approximately 0115 am. Based on surveillance video a suspect and vehicle description was obtained. The suspect caused approximately $2000 dollars in damage to the business and stole approximately $300 dollars worth of merchandise. At approximately 0915 am Stratford Detectives observed the suspect vehicle, a red Pontiac Sunfire and attempted to stop the car. The operator refused to stop and Officers broke off the pursuit. A short time later with the assistance of Fairfield Police the suspect vehicle was located in Fairfield. The Fairfield Police K9 Unit assisted with a track and the suspect, Walsh was found hiding from Officers under some bushes. He was taken into custody without incident.

 

The suspect, Matthew Russell Walsh age 47 of Wethersfield was charged with the following; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Reckless, Endangerment Interfering With an Office,r Larceny in the Sixth Degree, Burglary in the Third Degree, Engaging Police in Pursuit, and Reckless Driving,   Walsh is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on 10-25-2019 and he was held on a $100,000 dollar bond.

2019-10-15@2:57pm–#Norwalk CT–A sliver alert has been issued for Hyacinth McNichol, who is an 80 year-old female, 5’4″, 150 lbs, brown eyes, graying hair. She was last seen on October 13, 2019 in Norwalk. Ms. McNichol suffers from medical conditions and has ties to Bridgeport. Fairfield News: Stratford Burglary Suspect Apprehended After Manhunt

2019-10-15@10AMish–#Fairfield CT– #Stratford CT–Stratford Police pursued a vehicle that was a suspect in a burglary. Just before it entered the Fairfield Town Line on North Avenue, they terminated the pursuit. Fairfield Officers located the suspect’s vehicle near Algonquin Rd. And began a track with our K9. The suspect is described as a 50-60 year old white male wearing a grey hoodie and green and white sneakers. He was seen on a home surveillance video fleeing the vehicle east on Algonquin toward Brooklawn Ave.  K-9 Jagger with his handler Kevin Wells apprehended the suspect who was then turned over to Stratford Police.
