2021-11-25@8:30PMish– Police reported that a person was shot in the 700 block of Brooks Street. The person was transported to the hospital by EMS. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.
2021-11-24@10:45pm–#Fairfield CT– Police received a call for what was thought possibly be a person hanging from the Merwin’s Lane overpass of the Merritt Parkway. State police told me it was a prank. I pressed to ensure it was nothing derogatory and he said it was a Halloween skeleton dressed in clothes with a noose around it’s neck. It was taken to Fairfield Police Headquarters for disposal.

2021-11-24@3:03am–#Fairfield CT– Fairfield Police received a report that a male subject displayed a gun and just robbed Cumberland Farms on Kings Highway.
Patrol immediately located and made a motor vehicle stop on a suspicious car in the area, which was identified as the suspects’ car.
The vehicle was occupied by two subjects. The operator (Emmanuel Arango 10/18/90) complied with commands. The passenger (Gregory Whren 01/25/62) did not. He
exited the car and ran onto I95 and engaged Officers in a brief foot pursuit before being apprehended.
Evidence from the robbery was located and collected including the cash that had been taken. Detective personnel arrived to assist with evidence.
Gregory Whren (DOB 01/25/62) was arrested and charged with Robbery 1st (CGS 53a-134) and Interfering with Police (CGS 53a-167a). Emmanuel Arango (DOB 10/18/90) was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1st (CGS 53a-48/53a-134). Officer’s received a 911 call from the cashier at Cumberland Farms (975 Kings Highway East) reporting she was held up at gunpoint and the male ran out of the store South on Chambers Street. Officer’s initiated a felony motor vehicle stop on a black Honda Civic occupied by the operator Arango and the front seat passenger Whren. On scene investigation found that Whren went into the store to commit the Robbery and Arango waited a short distance away in his vehicle as the getaway driver. Whren matched the description of the suspect and was in possession of assorted bills taken from the register. Also, in Plain view a 12 pack of Coca Cola was observed on top of the vehicle center console and assorted dollar bills were observed on the passenger floor of the car which were taken from the store. Whren also ran from Officer’s prior to being taken into custody and was apprehended a short distance away.
Gregory Whren was charged with: Robbery 1st (CGS 53a-134) and Interfering with Police (CGS 53a-167a) he was held in lock up on a 100,000 dollar bond. Emmanuel Arango was charged with: Conspiracy to Commit Robbery 1st (CGS 53a-48/53a-134) he was held on a 50,000 dollar bond. Whren additionally was served active PRAWN Warrants from Fairfield PD and Trumbull PD. Also had hard-copy warrants out of Fairfield and Westport.
*Neither arrestee bonded out, both will be transported to court this morning.
Yesterday, I told you about Bridgeport Police Chief Rebecca Garcia taking drinkable water from her officers while she just got a newly furnished office. This type of petty conduct is the exception to the rule. A couple of weeks ago the Southport section of Fairfield had a robbery along with a few stolen cars.
Fairfield Police Chief Bob Kalamaras held a safety meeting with citizens and town officials. He lead the meeting off by saying “We have an incredible police force. The police force is made up of one hundred and eight men and women, and we are fortunate that we have good benefits, and good salaries, and that supports higher quality candidates and higher retention rates throughout our police department. That’s what you call real leadership.

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and Secretary of the State Denise Merrill announced that the State of Connecticut’s business registration system has been upgraded and is now fully integrated with Business.CT.gov, the state’s business portal that serves as a one-stop-shop for businesses and entrepreneurs to navigate state government requirements as effectively and quickly as possible.
The integration allows business owners to login to fewer places in order to do business with the state. Instead of logging in to a separate business registration system after creating a checklist at Business.CT.gov, entrepreneurs now have a built-in experience.
Connecticut’s business portal launched in the summer of 2020 and has been rapidly expanding under the administration’s efforts to build an all-digital state government. Among other accomplishments, this project has achieved:

“Since I came into office, one of our top goals has been to make sure each entrepreneur can spend less time with the government and more time growing their business and doing good for our residents,” Governor Lamont said. “This update is another incredible milestone in Connecticut’s modernization efforts to move toward an all-digital state government experience. Every business owner is required to register through the Secretary of the State, and this integration will take away one more burdensome extra step or login that they need to undertake to grow their business.”
