Stratford News: Construction Site Accident

At approx. 7:55am Stratford Fire Rescue was dispatched to Route 1 at the Devon Bridge for a 55-year-old female who had fallen through a hole in the bridge and landed on a construction barge below.

Stratford Fire Rescue responded to the scene with Car 3, Engine 1, Tac 5, Truck 1,

Marine Rescue 233, and Safety Car 5. Under the command of Assistant Chief Mike

Camperlengo, Stratford Firefighters using Marine 233 moored alongside the barge.

Stratford Firefighters and Stratford EMS Paramedics treated, stabilized, and using a rope rescue system extricated the 55-year-old female who had fallen through a 3’x5’opening and fell approx. 40-50 feet landing on a construction barge below.

The Devon Bridge is currently under repairs on the southbound side. The female is an

employee of Mohawk North East, the contractor repairing the bridge. She suffered

serious injuries and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital by Stratford EMS.

The rescue involved a team-oriented effort of all Stratford Public Safety Departments

including Dispatch, Fire, Police, and EMS.

Stratford Health Department to Offer Free Health Screenings

Stratford CT – The Stratford Health Department will be conducting free health screenings under their “Know Your Numbers” campaign at Town Hall, the Stratford Library, South End Community Center and Stratford YMCA. February is American Heart Month and the Stratford Health Department is encouraging all residents to participate in free heart health screenings.

“Know Your Numbers” campaign is part of an overall strategy created by the Health Improvement Alliance, comprised of Bridgeport Hospital, St. Vincent’s Medical Center, community health centers Optimus and Southwest and health departments of Bridgeport, Stratford, Fairfield, Trumbull, Monroe and Milford.  

“We want to raise awareness of heart disease and diabetes among residents of Stratford, especially the underserved,” said Andrea Boissevain, Stratford’s Health Director, adding “this campaign helps people make informed health decisions based on their own personal health data.” 

The “Know Your Numbers” campaign teaches individuals the link between personal health data such as blood pressure, blood sugar and overall health. Promoting free health screenings connects people with information about their health, connecting them with primary care doctors. Bridgeport News: Robbery Spree Continues To Plague City

Bridgeport Police UPDATE:

At 0528hrs the Bridgeport ECC received a 911 call from the owner of Vazzy’s Restaurant on Broadbridge Road indicating two males approached a worker and forced her into the store to burglarize it. BPD arrived on-scene shortly after to investigate the incident. Responsible parties are reported to be two black males, weapons were displayed. Both parties fled in an unknown direction. No injuries reported.

2023-01-31@7:00AMish–Vazzy’s and Catamount on Broadbridge Road were both reported to be robbed this morning. Also, an unconfirmed report said that White’s Diner on Boston Post Road was also robbed this morning. Earlier this month Yuery’s Market on East Main and Mikes Deli on Fairfield Avenue was robbed. There was also a home invasion yesterday on Brooks Street.

Bridgeport News: Home Invasion/Robbery

#Bridgeport CT–The Bridgeport Police received a 911 call at 0909hrs on a preliminary report of a burglary in progress I the 600th block of Brooks St. BPD units were dispatched and on-scene reports indicated a home invasion took place with a woman and her two children home. The male parties displayed a firearm and fled the residence with the female’s cellphone. AMR was dispatched to the scene for evaluation of any injuries. This is an active investigation at this time. Fairfield News: 3 Pedestrians Struck In 2 Incidents

2023-01-30@7:40pm–#Fairfield CT– A pedestrian was struck in the 2000 block of Post Road around 6:30pm and 2 pedestrians were struck in the 4000 block of Park Avenue both suffering head injuries according to radio reports. The photo is from the Park Avenue incident.

Fairfield Health Department Conducts FREE Screenings for Residents to Know Their Numbers


FAIRFIELD, Connecticut (January 30, 2023) – You may have heard that you need to “know your
numbers,” which refers to key markers of heart health like blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar,
body mass index (BMI), and waist circumference. Although doctors test most of these numbers at
annual check-ups, it’s important that you know your numbers and understand what they mean. By
keeping those numbers within a healthy range, you can greatly improve your heart health and reduce
your risk for heart disease.
February is Heart Health month and the Fairfield Health Department is celebrating by urging all
residents to make sure they know their numbers. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the
United States for both men and woman, and it is preventable. The Fairfield Health Department staff will
provide you with resources and information to help you take the steps to reduce your risk.
The Fairfield Health Department will be hosting three FREE “Know Your Numbers” testing and
informational screenings. The dates, times, and locations are below.
Wednesday, February, 1 st 2023 – 10AM – 1PM at the Public Health Nursing Office
Wednesday, February, 8 th 2023 – 10AM – 1PM at the Public Health Nursing Office
Wednesday, February, 15 th 2023 – 10AM – 1PM at the Public Health Nursing Office
During these times, a Public Health Nurse will conduct a simple blood test to determine an individual’s
A1c, blood pressure and body weight. The tests should only take about 10 minutes.
Registration is required for these screenings. Screening is for adults only ages 18 years and older.

Bridgeport News: Mike’s Deli Robbery

On January 10, 2023, at approximately 12:20 am, a suspect entered Mike’s Deli located at 2808 Fairfield Avenue, motioned as if he had a firearm, and took cash from the business. The suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black hat, blue jacket with black sleeves, tan khaki pants, and tan boots. The suspect left the store walking eastbound on Fairfield Avenue.

The Bridgeport Police Department (B.P.D.) Detective Bureau is requesting assistance from the public in identifying this robbery suspect. Please review the attached photographs taken from video surveillance.

Bridgeport CT–Yuery’s Market Robbery

#Bridgeport CT– On January 22, 2023, at approximately 6:30 pm, two suspects entered Yuery’s Market located at 1141 East Main Street, brandished a firearm, and took cash from the business. The suspect armed with the handgun is described as a Black male wearing a black mask, black hooded sweatshirt, and blue medical gloves. The second suspect is described as a Black male wearing a black & white shirt, black pants, black jacket, and a black facemask. Both suspects were last seen fleeing the area on foot headed westbound on Jane Street.

The Bridgeport Police Department (B.P.D.) Detective Bureau is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the robbery suspects. Please review the attached photographs taken from video surveillance.
