A crash at Fairfield Avenue and Clarkson Street in Bridgeport on Tuesday ended with one driver in the hospital and another in handcuffs.

Police say one vehicle was empty when they arrived. The other had a driver trapped inside, who was extricated and taken to St. Vincent’s with unknown injuries.

The unoccupied vehicle’s driver, 47-year-old Mark Coover of Bridgeport, asked to move his car—but instead tried to flee. Officers stopped him, and after a brief foot chase, he was arrested.

Coover admitted to drinking, refused a sobriety test, and now faces multiple charges, including DUI and interfering with police. His bond was set at $10,000.
