(Westport, CT) Westport Police were notified of a planned protest that will take place on the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Bridge (Route 1) on June 14, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Organizers have alerted the Westport Police that several hundred people have signed up for the protest, but since this is a national protest, they are anticipating attendance to exceed 1000 people. Additionally, the Yankee Doodle Fair will start at 1:00 pm on the same day. Westport Police are advising the public that there will be heavy traffic congestion with possible road closures in the downtown corridor. We encourage motorists to find alternate routes. Westport Police will have a significant presence in the area to assist with both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. If you choose to drive through downtown Westport, please be patient and alert to the increased pedestrian traffic.
During the morning hours of June 12, 2025, members of the Norwalk Police Department’s Traffic Unit were conducting traffic enforcement throughout the city as part of the department’s Summer Slowdown Days Initiative aimed at curbing speeding and aggressive driving in Norwalk. At 7:36 AM, Officer Equi was monitoring morning rush hour traffic along East Avenue when she observed a black Tesla traveling southbound fail to stop for a red traffic control signal at the intersection of East Avenue and Hendricks Avenue. The vehicle continued onto the I-95 southbound on-ramp without stopping. Officer Equi initiated a traffic stop, and during the course of her investigation determined that the driver, Kirk Thomas, age 29, of 296 Exeter Street, Bridgeport, CT, was operating his vehicle under the influence. Thomas was also smoking cannabis while driving and was found to be in possession of a Glock pistol. Thomas was taken into custody without incident and his vehicle was towed from the scene. He was charged with carrying a firearm under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to obey traffic control signals, operating a vehicle with illegally tinted windows, and smoking or otherwise inhaling or ingesting cannabis while operating a motor vehicle. Bond was set at $5,000. His court date is scheduled for June 26, 2025.
2025-06-12@11:27am–#Westport CT– Westport firefighters responded to a dumpster fire about 8 feet from a residential structure on Hales Court. Engine 5 arrived to find a fully involved dumpster fire exposing the nearby home. Additional engines and the truck company were dispatched. Crews quickly established a water supply, cooled the residence, and extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to the building. The fire was brought under control within seven minutes of arrival. The Westport Fire Marshal’s office is investigating. WEMS, Westport Police, and Westport Housing also responded. No one was displaced and there were no injuries. The last fire unit cleared at 12:25pm.
Recently, in a neighboring town, an elderly person withdrew a large sum of money and handed it over to an “agent” who showed up at their home. Please follow these simple tips before giving large sums of money to someone you do not know: Do not send or give any money or gift cards to an unknown person. Make contact with family who claim to be in danger prior to sending money, especially if the scam involves a claim about a family member. Trust your banking representatives if they try to intervene. Call the police if you feel that you are being scammed.
On June 5, 2025, Hippolito Rodriguez, age 52, of Bridgeport was arrested by warrant for six different incidents where he harassed and stalked an ex-girlfriend. The incidents took place from January to April of this year. Rodriguez was initially arrested last Wednesday, 5/28/2025, by the United States Marshalls Fugitive Task Force and the Bridgeport Police Department. Rodriguez was arrested on 5 failure to appear warrants for cases from Bridgeport, Connecticut State Police and Branford Police Department.
In the Ansonia cases Hippolito Rodriguez was charged with 7 counts of Violation of Restraining Order, 7 counts of Stalking First Degree, 7 counts of Harassment Second Degree, 3 counts of Criminal Trespass First Degree, single counts of Burglary Third Degree with a Firearm, Burglary Third Degree, Threatening First Degree, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Use of a Firearm, Criminal Mischief Third Degree, and Larceny Sixth Degree. Rodriguez was held on $1,225,000.00 in bonds to be arraigned at Derby Superior Court today 6/5/2025.
All arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
On June 4, 2025, Harry Danley, age 55, of Ansonia was arrested by warrant for his involvement in a fraud and theft investigation. The conservator for an 85-year-old Ansonia resident reported the possible theft in March of 2025. The investigation showed numerous checks written to Danley dating back to 2020 totaling over $20,000.00 and there appeared to be no legitimate reason for the checks.
Danley was charged with Larceny First Degree, he was released on a $35,000.00 bond with a court date of June 18, 2025 at Derby Superior Court.

Westport Police investigated two (2) stolen vehicle reports yesterday where vehicles were left unlocked and keys in the vehicle. We had one (1) vehicle theft attempt and one call of suspicious people running from an open garage and fleeing the area in a stolen vehicle. Further, Westport Police investigated a hit and run motor vehicle accident at Easton Road and North Ave where one of these stolen cars crashed into another vehicle and fled. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in the crash. Those responsible for stealing these cars have no regard for your property or your safety. Please lock your homes and vehicles, utilize alarm and surveillance systems, and report any suspicious behavior to the Westport Police Department.

The Ansonia Police Department arrested a 17-year-old male on both juvenile and motor vehicle charges for his involvement in the April 26, 2025, street takeover on Wakelee Avenue. Due to his age the name of the suspect will not be released; the motor vehicle charges regarding the incident will be separate from the juvenile charges and will be adjudicated at Derby Superior Court.
On May 15, 2025, the male was charged with Riot First Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Riot First Degree and Reckless Endangerment First Degree and held by Juvenile Court.
On June 4, 2025, the male was charged with Reckless Driving, Racing, Operating without a License, Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Operating with No Insurance. He was held on $25,000.00 bond and will be arraigned at Derby Superior Court on June 6, 2025.
All arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Westport, CT – May 29, 2025 Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Westport Hardware on March 17th. Police say Lydia Bell, 26, of Fairfield, and Joshua Loveras, 28, of Bridgeport, conspired to steal power tools valued at $300. According to investigators, Loveras first entered the store before Bell came in and allegedly took the tools. When confronted outside, Bell reportedly claimed she had a knife and that her accomplice had a gun before fleeing in a car.
Surveillance footage and law enforcement information sharing helped identify the suspects. Both turned themselves in to Westport Police on May 29 and were charged with multiple offenses including Robbery 3rd, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, and Larceny 6th. Bell also faces a charge of Threatening 2nd. They were each held on $75,000 bond and transported to Stamford Superior Court for arraignment on May 30.
