Bridgeport City Hours/Trash Pickup on Monday, Veterans Day
BRIDGEPORT, CT (November 8, 2013) – In observance of Veterans Day, City Hall and Margaret E. Morton Government Center will be closed on Monday, November 11, and will reopen on Tuesday, November 12.
The City’s Transfer Station is open on Monday from 7 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (closed for lunch fromNoon – 12:45 p.m.).
Trash and recycling pickups will continue as scheduled on Monday.

City bus accident
5:02pm–#Bridgeport CT–Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to rescue a driver from his car after a crash with a city bus at Broad and Allen Street.
Shooting in Bridgeport
A man was shot in the leg in a shooting outside the Ralphola Taylor Community Center at 790 Central Avenue. Initial radio reports said there was possibly a woman victim but no woman has shown up at any of the local hospitals. One man was seen being treated by EMS in the ambulance. Police were in the area and heard multiple shots from two different weapons. As police continue to investigate I’m certain info will continue to change. We will update you as the information becomes available.
Milford pedestrian hit
6:49pm–#Milford CT–A pedestrian was hit by a car in the 200 block of New Haven Avenue.
Distraction works to steal new bike
6:04pm–#Fairfield CT–Two males and a female distracted employees at Zane’s Bikes, formerly Trek Bicycles at 1215 Post Rd, Fairfield while a third accomplice swipes a new bicycle from the store. Police are investigating.
Kitchen fire
12:43pm–#Bridgeport CT–Firefighters on the way to 55 Dixon Street where there was a kitchen fire. They will be checking to see if the fire extended elsewhere.

Joe Pelli, owner of the Servpro franchises, covering Trumbull/Monroe, N. Bridgeport, Westport/Fairfield, Norwalk/Wilton, Stamford and Greenwich has been in the Fire, Water and Mold-Cleanup & Restoration business for over 30 years. Joe along with Mayor Finch spoke to the crowd announcing the new location then gave a tour of the office and warehouse. The new Bridgeport facility, now accompanying Joe’s original Stamford location, gives Servpro the opportunity to continue to grow in the communities and assist at an even quicker rate. Having two facilities will help customers feel “Like it never even happened ™”.
Truck Stuck
8:54pm–#Bridgeport CT–A truck did not realize his truck was too tall for the railroad bridge at Railroad and Iranistan Avneue.
